Silver Anniversary

At 10.30 we will cross that 'threshold' metaphorically to our silver anniversary.

The years fly. I can barely remember this time 25 yrs ago.

The future was before us, a blank slate, waiting to be filled with shared dreams and adventures.A future that was filled with all the hope and promise two young twenty-somethings with the world at their feet could ever imagine.

When I think of all we have been through together, the brilliant and not so. Life has sometimes thrown us what we least expected but we survived by the grace of God..

Hard times can rock the boat , sink the love.We have certainly had our share of hard times...so the kayaks were a great gift - staying afloat through whatever came our way. We've endured many obstacles and and been through storms of infertility, loss of our daughter and both had cancer.

It's hard to believe that 25 years have gone by since we stood together and our marriage vows were first spoken...how did we get this old ?

I had the crop the ugly concrete out. The wedding album is somewhere.

We have survived owner building a home , living in a caravan (x 3), renovations and running our own business and working together for 19 years. We also suffered the loss of our daughter born still.

The strength to stay together in the face of these trials has truly been a gift from God; our faith has held us up tremendously.I give thanks to God.

There are no secrets I can share, no recipes for love , no magic formula for why our relationship has out lasted many others. I don’t think my hubby and I are any better at this spouse/husband/wife gig than others around us.

I can't begin to know or understand what other peoples reasons were, but I’ve no doubt they were good enough reasons. Sometimes there isn't even 'reason' enough. Not for a minute do I consider or judge couples that divorce; that didn’t try hard enough to make it work, or love each other enough, or any other 'enoughs'.

For many people divorce is not the first line of defense. It can happen sometimes when one person is least expecting it. I know that even when a marriage is suffering or plain bad , deciding to end it is painful.

Love is an act of the will, and can be expressed in various degrees. It isn't always truly, madly deeply.
I hope that we have a respite from the struggles and can pause a moment , to just reflect and recognize all that we do have and enjoy it simply for what it is, without thinking about what it is not.

I feel blessed to have found someone I can live with in relative happiness and who can say the same about me or perhaps we just put up with each other faults & all.

Really I wonder if we’ve just been lucky... meeting as we did on a blind date via the radio (pre internet).

I shouldn’t ever take for granted what I have and to always put an effort into showing my long suffering dear husband that I appreciate him. Like many others I can be difficult to live with sometimes...

WIN 1 OF 3 DOUBLE PASSES TO A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN ~

Time for some happy !

I have a quick giveaway today for a film starring Kate Hudson called A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN set for release 1 March 2012 .

Thanks to Hoyts Distribution I have 3 double passes to giveaway to see the romantic drama starring Kate Hudson, Gael García Bernal, Rosemarie DeWitt, Kathy Bates and Whoopi Goldberg.

A Little Bit of Heaven is a love story set in New Orleans about an irreverent young woman who unexpectedly falls in love with her doctor...( I have had many a DR crush before -  have you )

Marley Corbett (Kate Hudson) is young, beautiful, and wildly funny, but she’s afraid of opening herself up to true love and commitment. Though she uses her humour to prevent matters from getting serious, a life-changing visit to her doctor (Gael Garcia Bernal) sends both of them on an eye-opening adventure of mutual discovery, leading to revelations neither thought possible.
A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN in cinemas March 1. Check out the film trailer http://www.hoytsdistribution.com.au/alittlebitofheaven/

Australia residents Only
Closes 4pm 28th February 2012
Each double pass is valued at $36.00 each - So three winners.

Thankful for laughter, love and life.

I am thankful for my twin sons' laughter…they remind me how simple happiness can be, even when bad things happen.

I am so thankful Joel's accident wasn't worse , teeth can be fixed for the most part. I am letting go of my misery.

I’m thankful for having met such a sweet guy on a blind date 23yrs ago [Oct 15th] and we started our relationship a month later on 15th November . Here we are today, it fills my heart with thanks.

I am thankful for my amazing twin boys…miracles conceived by IVF ; transfered as day 5 Hatched blastocysts (if you know what that means) on 14th November 2005  ... here is what I wrote on a forum back then

I now have 2 hatched blastocysts on board - no frozen embryos though - this one is going to work so won't need any !
I have 2 weeks to my beta though - or maybe I will POAS* if I feel the time is right....
No wonder they teach me patience every day !  ... I waited 14yrs to get pregnant with them.

*Pee on a stick :) and I did early 23rd November !

What are you thankful for ?

Day 1 - Revive our heart

New DIRECTIONS ...in my marriage : a journey to appreciate and encourage my husband.

Day One:
"The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. She does
him good and not evil all the days of her life." Prov. 31:11-12
To refresh your memory...here's the 30-Day Encouragement Challenge...for the next 30days:
* You can't say anything negative about your husband ...to your husband...or to anyone else, about your husband.
* Say something that you admire or appreciate about your husband...to your
husband...and to someone else, about your husband!
To help you get started, have you ever thanked your husband
Last night I left my blogging and rss feeds *gasp* to watch a movie with the family .. "The Bee Movie" -funny and different. Then I helped my husband tidy up instead of sitting at computer again.I thanked him before I went to bed and told him I loved him (I do this often but I guess not enough).

This morning I officially started Day 1 ... I woke up and remembered , I jumped out of bed with a spring in my step to go make him a cup of tea in bed ... he was in the shower when I returned but it was the thought that counts.(ps I didn't have time to hop in LOL).He always make me a cup of tea. I thanked him because he is an exceptional fellow and does so much around the house.

It was fitting the Head or Tails this week is Directions - I really took to heart what Skittle has written this week . I could have written this too. For me, too, my blog has become a bit of sore point with my husband - he doesn't like the time I spend online. So it is a struggle because being I feel so alone and isolated at times -it is my lifeline and my sanity. I guess like Skittle I need to chose 'real life' a little more often. So if you see less of me that's why. It isn't a flip of the coin - heads or tails ...

Darling - I love and cherish you in my life thanks for choosing me.

OMG - what a coincidence ... was Googling a song about 'Direction' and thought of Every which way but loose ... (by Eddie Rabbitt who I have never heard of - to be honest but I have heard of his music) -then I started listening to You & I - I loved it ... but not the cheesy Dallas Montage with Patrick Duffy & Victoria Principle . I saw another version with the album cover - Radio Romance - which it what ours was - freaky. Read about it HERE

six thousand five hundred and seventy days

Wordless Wednesday is below this post

6570 - can anyone guess what this number means -

Kelley @ Magnetobold had an anniversary yesterday ~ 18 years with her MPS - it got me thinking ... okay get back up on your seat now !

about numbers ...

It is precisely 18 years x 365 days = 6570 (not including leap year days)

I told my husband this figure 'six thousand five hundred and seventy '6570' and bless him - he said it didn't seem enough days !! -no mention of "you get less for murder"

but wait it didn't seem right ... so I remembered

I have add in the 4 leap year days

February 10th 1990 to today (6/2/2008) = 6570

by Sunday it will be 6574 days

Useless dribble ... of course !

Your turn - how did you meet the love of your life ...be it your first, second or seventh ?

or how long have you been hooked ... ball & chained ... in lurve ?
