CATastrophe

Just out of curiosity if the past tense of sit is sat
Then is 'shat' the past tense of ...s#*+ ?

So why did the cat shat on the mat ?

Yesterday I finally pulled my finger off twitter out and booked the Teen's 'Ziggy' the cat into be de-sexed so we didn't have any more

Cute as they may be there are still so many unwanted kittens born, who grow into even less wanted cats.
I wasn't quick enough last time. It is my responsibility.

One of the animal welfare organisations was less than helpful and brushed my questions off too quickly. So he might be busy...What the ? I want to book them in sunshine ... I had important questions to ask.

I wanted to get the kitten , Mia, done at the same time.
Instead I google the Cat Protection society. They were extremely helpful. They give me the name of an experienced vet who would do kittens as young as 8-12weeks and a reference number for a discount.

The downside was it some distance away but the 'price' was more than enough for me to book them in for surgery next week. The next available time on my child free day.

I call a friend, D, to ask to borrow her cat carrier.

D suggests her acquaintance that was a vet , closer , who might match the price.
D calls and the vet agrees. Since D, had been so helpful I decide to accept her vet friends' offer instead.
I called the vet , made the arrangements ...for tomorrow which was today !

We hadn't time to get the cat carrier but I assumed it wouldn't be a problem with the Teen coming to help wrangle the cats.
The cats are locked up in garage overnight with a litter tray and  no food.
We get the cats in the car , too easy !

Ziggy and Mia curl up together, happily, on one child car seat. Half way to our destination Ziggy starts meowing and moving about on the floor.
We think she is hungry ...wrong !
I feel her brush beside my leg. I'm driving ...at next set of lights I pass her to the Teen.
He goes "Ewww !!! she's wet".

I notice the carpet floor mat beside is also shiny - wet.
He puts Ziggy on the floor in backseat.
He searches for the antiseptic hand wash and something to wipe his hand.

I SMELL an overpowering stench, my eyes are watering and I feel sick.
OMG the smell.
I know it's under my seat or behind.
Teen says Ziggy is now coated in said "Sh*t" ....

Mia, kitten, is all the while quiet and on the front floor.

There is no where to pull over, inside lane, on busy two-three lane road with a traffic island.
I put the windows down ...for fresh air. Smell is overwhelming.
I am both laughing and choking, trying to hold my nose while driving.
Eyes are watering.
Teen is grumbling.
Suddenly I think - 'UH oh - no' the cats might jump out window ...up it goes EEEEEWWWWWWW ...leaving it a little down.

We have to put Ziggy in a large postage box that was in backseat because she still is moving about.
She is NOT happy...clearly she can't be held.

We are nearly there and a little lost, traffic lights , a  NO RIGHT turn (it was the wrong way anyway...I just couldn't think straight with that smell) and no left hand streets.
Round and down the street, further away and then back.

HURRY
Teen spots the Vet surgery.

HURRAH
We park right outside, it is on a busy street so I make sure Teen has a hold on both cats.
Thankfully I find a soft canvas shopping bag in the boot , into which I place Ziggy , her head out, so I can hold her without the poop getting on me (I chucked it out later).
We get inside...the vet is busy, the lovely trainee nurse (3 days on the job) sorts a cage to put them in.

PHEW !
Paperwork complete we head back to car to see what we can do, armed with wet and dry paper towel.
Teen - gets the job done ...thankfully quick, easily extracts 'all the bits' under my seat .There is a malodorous smell that accompanies us home, with the windows down it isn't as bad.

Home ...I swap cars to take boys to playgroup. Hub takes the ute to work ; Teen is left to finish my car cleanup.
It is his cat after all !

When I am almost to playgroup turnoff - I feel dampness near my right ankle argh ...either the cat pee on the mat wicked up my jean cuff or she peed on me...
Revenge !

PS Thank goodness D, has dropped the cat carrier at playgroup so there will be no repeat CATastrophe when we pick them up later.

Grateful Saturday - social networking

This week I was gratefully reminded of the benefits of social networking. It has paved the way for easier communication with my friends, family and other friends I only know by avatar, alias or user name.

In just a few clicks people are connected by common interests, a purpose, and goal*(see below). People from all walks of life also get to mingle with each other from the comfort of our computer or anywhere now we have mobile phone access.

Through a message on my Facebook status I found a new home for two of our kittens - now named Neva & Jacob with R and her family.

I met R through an online parenting forum before my twins were born. I also met her twice in real life at forum meet ups too when they were babes. To be honest we're more online acquaintances than friends but I am so glad she was on my friends list. I wasn't having much luck with real life friends in finding a home for the kittens.I also got to see Neva & Jacob with R's little girls on her FB photos and could show my own boys.

Social networking on twitter or FB also allows us to instantly share knowledge, ask questions or have a quick rant and get instant answers or a little virtual TLC.

Little Bloggy Blood Drive
See this button also it is also in my sidebar. Liz @ Lizosaurus is organising a bloggy blood donation drive in April at new Town Hall blood centre. It's amazing we can connect together with a purpose to achieve a common goal and met up...will you join us.

Blood donation is a gift those whose lives depend on it are always grateful for.

So, what's making you smile today?
... add your Grateful post below it's a blog hop .Please add a link back to Maxibella in your post. Blog hop to visit other bloggers who are spreading a little sunshine.

happy 21st

No it's not my birthday , I am at least twice that number ...

It's the 21st today - so why am I happy.

I just realised yesterday I'd completed day 21 of 27 runs of the Couch to 5K.
I can report -it is still no easier.

I still huff and puff and wonder where the heck are the happy endorphins they promised.
I still ache (that is more to do with my fitness level and taking up running at my age ;).

Please don't let me put you off. It is do-able ...I just finished week 7.
If I can do it you can too.

Shelley @ My Shoebox life completed the program last year and blogged every run.I am in awe.

I definitely don't plan on marathon running maybe a few charity runs like the Mother's Day classic.

I'm  motivated to live a life of purpose and at least do something 'good' if I have to stay fit.

I also don't want to come tripping over the finish line last .

I want to look good doing it. So I can't believe my lucky stars I won this over at Mrs Woog's ...least now I have a 4 min routine...though perhaps I need 40 minutes.

I can now look more part of a older yummy mummy instead of a granny .

Go see Mrs Woog's adorable new kitten , Chuy Lewis and then come back and see mine...or yours if you want one...

Grateful Saturday

Whiskers on kittens and watching them play- is there anything sweeter ? I will miss them ...maybe one day

Finding our GPS (lost and found in back seat pocket detritus) . I'm a numbers girl and I feel in control knowing how far I have come and knowing I have directions to move forward...still with a choice of going my own way. I am not so grateful for the 4yr echo (Sam is in training for back seat driving Olympics.)

My new Rubbermaid mop I won ...going to floor test it today.(thanks Dannii)

Things I know - Letting Go

Letting go is one of the hardest lessons in life.
Kittens are very cute.

Even the mere thought of not having those furry little bundles in our life squeezes my heart in pain. Plus my little boys will be :-(

Even when they are darn cute -it's still hard to find a new home.

It's necessary to let go so that each of them can fulfill their life path !

There are things that we never want to let go of, people we never want to leave behind. But keep in mind that letting go isn’t the end of the world, it’s the beginning of a new life.

Anyone ?

PS My apologies for poor quality images , it was hard to catch them still , in the garage ...in semi darkness and on my ipod.

Smiley Saturday

...It's 12.41am ...as in 41 minutes after midnight, a time when I should be sleeping.
I can't .

Insomnia has struck again. It's not the first time this last week since our world was turned upside down.

A visit by a short person woke me from my slumber. After I settle him on the cot mattress on the floor next to my bed, I lie awake . Waiting for sleep to come again.

I've left the mattress there since the Brothers were both sick 1-2 weeks ago. They took turns.

I know he obviously wants to be close to us, but I cannot sleep all night with him tossing, turning and stealing my pillow, wedging his cuddly body as close to me or his father as he can get. His twin will surely follow at some other unearthly hour.

Plus I'm too lazy to get the mattress protector , he is out of night nappies ( did I mention woo hoo no more nappies for either of them for over 2 months) but he has had a wet bed on a few occasions. Not tonight .

Too many thoughts are pulsing through my head.
I have a hundred blog posts in my head draft. Some I can't even write yet.
So I sneak out of bed and here I am.

I know my husband is not sleeping well either and at least my not tossing & turning won't disturb him. I'd normally read a book.

We are expecting visitors for an early morning tea , right after breakfast. A surprise visit from a dear friend, just arranged today. So I have to be up early. I decided I will write a blog post now.I have small fast moving bugs for company and a mug of decaf tea.

It was a busy day with the short people sneaking in the back door stealing water from bathroom, to mix with sand (it was everywhere) & stealing bandaids. They created a trail of mess and mayhem but they were happy. They mixed tomato sauce into their drinks when I was on the phone to the accountant , they chased the poor kitty all day and they made me laugh so many times over. I needed it. I love them more than life itself.

OMG kitty,

She was missing and I found her asleep in the front loader.

She is so sweet and lies in their arms like a rag doll. I've never seen a kitten like her . She doesn't scratch, lucky she can hide under the lounge (sometimes she gets to stay there). Her name is Ziggy (by Mr 16), The Brothers & I, call her Sweetypie (well I started it).

Sweetypie isn't much bigger than the soup packet

Now ~ where was I -

This week I received a surprise in the post. It really made me smile. Not truly a surprise as I was expecting it.I won a Dandi & Masterchef DVD Giveaway from Not Quite Nigella.I only entered once. I can't wait to watch the Masterchef DVDs. Not Quite Nigella is one of my favourite food bloggers.

Her blog is an eclectic & exotic mix of recipes , divine cakes , food tours, restaurant reviews with gorgeous photography. Nom nom !

  1. It's Saturday
  2. My dear friend & her gorgeous girls are visiting tomorrow today.
  3. I 'll have time to watch a Masterchef DVD because Dh is home.
  4. I found the missing book so I don't have to pay the library $24.95 for it.
  5. This verse ...

I ... thank you

I THANK YOU ... ALL ~ It's been a tough week and I thank everyone for their kind thoughts. Please know that even if I haven't had time this week to respond specifically to your comment - I treasure each comment made and consider it a thoughtful act of friendship.

I am... super busy. I am always trying to figure out how people fit everything into their busy lives.
I want... more time to read blogs and check my emails and google reader...no really more time with my children and husband. You just never know ...
I wish...my husband and I were going out tonight for our prize winning dinner (Mum is hopefully free to babysit next week).
I hate...snakes.
I miss…my cat and her new kittens.
I fear…what recession will do to do the country and worldwide.
I worry ... constantly.
I feel…helpless I couldn't save my cat.
I hear…the hum of the computer fan, my buzzing hearing aid, my fingers tapping keys and the teen watching the TV behind me.
I smell…the gardenia through my bedroom window (a short time ago).
I crave…chocolate.
I search…for matching socks.
I wonder…why my baby died...and my cat.
I regret…yelling at my children and fighting with my teen today.
I love…being a SAH Mum...and being able to work a bit from home.
I care…DEEPLY about my children, husband, family and friends.
I ache…when I get run down or not enough sleep.
I always...enjoy visiting friends and having dinner cooked for me.
I believe…that God has a plan for my life.
I dance…only when no one else is watching or just my toddlers looking.
I sing...in the car, at church, and anywhere when I 'm alone (see I dance) !
I cry…at least once a week or more especially when reading blogs or sad stories
I don’t always...act like I should.
I fight…with my teenage son.
I write…daily on this blog only during Nablopomo now.
I never…want to be alone.
I listen…to my toddlers and marvel at their new words and increasing language.
I need…to clean up my desk and the spare bedroom we are turning into a home office...really I need to go to bed !
I am happy...with where we live right now.
I pray...every day ! Almost
I am grateful...for the connections and friendships in my virtual world.

This definitely made me think.I saw this a while ago @ A Day in the Life of a Mom of Six by Laura and I just had to do it too... it is still and I have bloggers block.

Kittens Update ...
Pickles is feeding the seven kittens and they are doing well. I hope to go visit them over the weekend.I am very relieved. B said she is now eating two tins of food a day.

The Vet send my husband a sympathy card today ...very sweet.

Advice of the Day
  1. Worry is like a rocking chair - it gives you something to do but gets you nowhere (*sigh* I need to ditch my rocking chair).
  2. It is better to sleep on what you intend doing, than to stay awake over what has been done.
  3. Good character like good soup is made at home.

Overwhelmed ..

Update : Brown snake ...my cat passed away.

I was out visiting some special friends today they live 2 hrs + away.We had a great day.

No time today to chat except to my friend. No time to read your blogs or comment.

I came home and cooked dinner. After dinner I fixed my cat's litter tray and I noticed later my cat had been vomiting. She didn't look too bad.Half an hour later checked her again. She was looking very sick. She has only been inside today and only had fresh food.

My DH has taken her to the after hours vet but I have a terrible feeling. She looked bad.Even if she survives most likely she won't be able to nurse the kittens for a few days the emergency vet said when I spoke to the RSPCA.

The RSPCA says they will euthanase them if I surrender them ...I have to wait till tomorrow to speak to other cat welfare agencies.Another website said to try and find another cat to feed them ? what are my chances ?

Why do emergencies happen after hours ?

I wonder if I can look after them ?

Their eyes are just starting to open and they are so sweet.

Wordless Wednesday - A Kindle of Kittens

"Miracles in velvet mittens;
Tumbled here,
A pile of kittens."The smallest feline is a masterpiece. (Leonardo da Vinci)
Advice of the day
  1. People who own cats live longer, have less stress, and have fewer heart attacks.
  2. Know which plants are poisonous to your cats, and which ones are safe.
  3. "Laughter is more than just an enjoyable activity. It is very beneficial to the body and mind. It doesn't cost a cent and it is highly contagious".LOLcats is a great place to start laughing.

No time ...

It's been a busy day. There was no time to stop to chat or comment or even look at my Google reader. *shudder*

No time to read your blogs.Sorry if I haven't visited you.

Where was I ?

Looking after two busy toddlers and my seven new kittens and their Mumma and the Toolman buried Mini in our rose garden next to Chloe (the cat I had for over 12 years).

I really had some housework and due today business tax stuff to do. I didn't even go to playgroup.

There was no time to construct a witty, intelligent and thoughtful post ...do I ever ?
I just pulled this out of my hat in the nick of time. We only made the bed at 11.30pm.

No time to write up my usual rambling comments either.

... I can tick another 100 things off my to do list at least.
I won't bore you with them all.

One of the things that I hope most for my little boys is that they have time.... enough of my time, enough cuddles, tickles and play time.

Our time with our children is so short. Their time to be a child is too short too or so it seems.

I just hope that at the end of the day, when I tuck myself in bed ... when all the seconds, minutes, hours in November 11th, 2008 have ticked off, that I feel like spent my time wisely and had some fun.

I hope that I haven't wasted too much of my precious time rushing here and there to get things done being disconnected from the people that I care most about.

Advice of the Day
  1. Pretend you are human...let others be prefect and wonderful. Be content with who you are and just recognize all that you do have and enjoy it simply for what it is, without thinking about what it is not. You'll be more relaxed if you do.
  2. Start Christmas now ...save the rush. Christmas carols , chocolates, a drink with friends have a great ability to make you feel soothed.
  3. Steal 60 secs ...when you are feeling tense go somewhere quiet to gather your thoughts, pat something ...or if you don't have a pet - rest your fingertips and opposing thumbs gently against each other and breathe slowly and deeply...allow calmness to overtake you.repeat the mantra ...I feel calmer.
See you all tomorrow.
'Lest we forget' 90 years on !

hello Kitty Surprise

I was going to tell you all about my island getaway ...but I got a surprise instead.

Remember our little ball of fun fluff ...

well Matilda and some Tom D i c k or Harry are ppurrr leased to announce the arrival of
1 2 3 4

5 67
oops eight
kittens born today between 9.30am and 5pm.

We only realised she might be pregnant a few weeks ago. I ahev no idea how ...of course I know all about the cats birds and bees -I never saw her come into 'season'.

I am glad I only have twins. Every time I turned my back she popped out another one (because cats eat the placenta).

Sadly
the tiniest last born looks like they won't make it. They are so,so tiny. I have never seen kittens being born either.

Email now to reserve the kitten of your dreams...they are so cute.

Assvice of the day.
  1. Don't procrastinate ... getting your cat desexed .... do it today !
  2. "A kitten provides a child with a sleepover friend every night."
  3. Laugh off at quotes like this ...
I've never understood why women love cats. Cats are independent, they don't listen, they don't come in when you call, they like to stay out all night, and when they're home they like to be left alone and sleep. In other words, every quality that women hate in a man, they love in a cat
