Things I know - and not

I know that this caravan is very cute but it is not ours, just one I saw in a caravan park recently.

When you drive past a cemetery and one child says to the other "LOOK Joel a digger !" (as he looked thru a fence), you know, they don't know what a cemetery and grave sites mean. You know you resist the urge to turn over your shoulder and look. On the way back you do it anyway (it was just moving earth - I hope !)


I know that this morning as hubby left us at the station and the small boy says to him "Daddy make sure you watch Octonauts and tell us what mission it is today" Daddy won't have that on his list. It was already a rather long list.

It was pouring raining this morning. Adding to the rather long list was knowing that the umbrellas were still in the caravan (stored elsewhere) since our Blogopolis adventure.

I know I may have ranted a LOT little the last time I needed them a few weeks ago and DH was supposed to bring them home the same day. I guess by now you know he didn't so he had to get them this morning. His BAD.

I know I wish he hadn't bothered at all. Small boys and umbrellas = My BAD - as a weapon and then we lost one at my friend's. We stopped for a visit on the way home. Seriously , her house is a small inner city 'semi' - so who where it is who knows ? They may have been chasing her cats with it.

I know that I shouldn't let my 5yr olds borrow my iPod touch at a blogger event. IT got left behind in the playroom and my BAD was I forgot to check I had it as I left. I know it meant an extra one hour out of my way, two extra train trips, 1km walk and 100 stairs going back to retrieve it. I know it was my fault *sigh*

Not another Blogopolis post ~ just a quick update.

So I grand plans to write up the greatest post conference post but sorry if you want that go here , here or maybe over here and most definitely here for the best round up of all the master classes

Most of you know I made it despite the turn of events this time a week ago. I appreciated the kind offers. (I just haven't got back to reply to comments because it's so hard on my iPad - it keeps calling me TRASH ! )

I finally got to meet Mel, my dear URL friend who I've known online for six years, now I can count her as IRL because I now know she isn't a balding man in his 60s pretending to be a mum lol * (*pinched this off her facebook status from her friend).

We actually met in online IVF ~ want to be parents forum. 

Her little lads are delightful and I was pleased my own little drummers got to play with them for a bit, till my hubby started the trek back to Sydney with them and caravan in tow.

Mel put up with me gave me dinner and a bed for the night. She also works in the CBD and set me on the right train to the Blogger's Brunch.
Fortunately, I was rooming with the gorgeous Kirsty @ Mummy to five (5.5yrs and under people- she is one amazing lady) , including a set of twins. After the conference we both had an early night and early departure back home.


I am still recovering , not from any hangovers at pre and post drink sessions but from a cold virus. It rendered me voiceless by the afternoon of the conference and with a nasty dripping nose and hacking cough.Still voiceless.

I was very disappointed I didn't have a voice left to ask where some lovely ladies I wanted to meet were and much less the ability , feeling so unwell by conference end.

Still, I, thoroughly enjoyed the day with Kate Our Little Sins , Jodie from Muddled Up Mumma, Grace from Musings of Mama Grace and Maria from Mum's Word and Leigh from Absoluteleigh who I've had the pleasure of meeting a few times before.

I  enjoyed immensely the Blogger's Brunch and Nuffnang Conference , I just don't have the energy to articulate my thoughts into coherent sentences right now. I have serious brain information overload and sleep deprivation.

I learnt overall I need to make a few blog changes AND despite what they said I am definitely staying on blogger...
By far the conversation that had the biggest impact was a heartfelt chat to Fi about Heartfelt and I will write more on that later.

I came home to two children joining me in my coughing chorus and snot trumpeting choir , as well as a burst hot water system. Thank goodness we still have hot water - how I can't tell you, but my man knows all about it and how to fix it Wednesday because he has ordered us a new one.

• A cup of tea in bed, in the morning . It's our latest cosiest , lazy morning routine ; we do take turns :-) .

•  The fringe benefits of blogging ...did you see my new boots. My husband is starting to come round to the idea that blogging isn't such a bad thing ... it makes the medicine go down in the most delightful way.

What a day

It is hard to come down from the clouds after such a great weekend with some of my favourite people at the inaugural Aussie Bloggers Conference 2011.

There was  much to learn and some many beautiful stories told on 'My blog my story' which was one of my favourite sessions along with the crowd sourced keynote speaker ...blog readings.

For me , it was all about connecting with my community. The community of people with whom I have developed relationships over the last few years .

Putting a face to well, and lesser known, but much loved names and hearing the real voices of many ... some very surprising ones. Gabbing with and embracing bloggers from across the continent. I can't remember everyone and I'd feel terrible if I left you out.

Trying to listen to great speakers, moderators and follow the twitter stream was also very challenging.

I applaud the team of ladies who made it possible. We all thank you   Brenda , Tina , Veronica , Nicole and Karen for an amazing effort. 

It's hard to face the reality of the mundane, the  bills, the noise, the shamozal of family life, cleaning ( all the awesome cleaning product in the swag bags will be very handy one day) and  the laundry ...my washing machine croaked on Wednesday. I took two loads to my in-laws Wednesday. I did 3 loads at my mum's when I collected my boys after the Ausblogcon Sunday . It meant I also got a hot cooked lunch - thanks mum.

The dinner/dance was amazing fun. I haven't had as much fun in years ...well away from my family.
Thanks to Marilyn @Live first write later I was able to stay in her place. I feel I cheated getting to go at the last minute - it was worth it.

I don't know how much I'll change about my blog. I have a blog makeover coming and I have a lot to think about in terms of the directions I should go. I am enjoying the journey though and proud to be called a blogger even if a lot of my real life community don't understand it.

Elevator Pitch

I still don't know why I am doing this or why I blog.

I've decided to tag along with the Louisa & Aussie Mum bloggers on Darren Rowse's - 31 days to build a better blog challenge. Read the details here.

Day # 1 Mission / Challenge - The Elevator Pitch -the first task is to sell yourself in as few unique words as possible.


I blog about : my family, faith, everyday life parenting preschooler twins and a teenager, what inspires me, encouragement, health, loss, grief, friendship, chaos, reflections on ups & downs of life plus helpful hints with a splash of humour.


I like to share a different viewpoint…mostly my glass is half full whether it is 5'0 clock or not. Otherwise , I love to put the kettle on and have a chat over a cuppa - if you don't mind the noise. I write from the heart though I don't call myself a writer...I always have a lot to say.  


My Tagline - Loving and living life with passion and a purpose, one - no two beats at a time. Hold the bass ! I also know sour grapes makes lousy whine ....!

PS*I don't even know if I'll get to finish 31 days ; not because I don't want to but we've been planning a short holiday for a year or more months.It's been delayed time after time.My husband would be less than impressed if I spent our holiday on the computer.

So we have plans for a short holiday as soon as my husband finishes up a few things at our business premises maybe in the next two weeks. We have been winding down most of our business activities the last 10 months.

Seventeen years in our own business. Mostly we have just snatched a few days away here and there, in between working together fulltime (except since the twins arrived 4.5yrs ago). My DH decided it wasn't worth it anymore especially with since his cancer diagnosis. Life is too short not to have more fun. It made us reassess life and how we live it.

We are still going to take a break for a few months after we sell our house but a one week holiday is first up asap.

There have been many hurdles to jump to get this far, the light at the end of the tunnel is still a long way away but we are closer than we ever have been.We also had to wait till DH's appointment last week.
