Wordless Wednesday : Put out to Pasture

Little dirt magnets ...

Once upon a time the big boys decided to tractor pull the old tractor , found in the top paddock, back to the farm house-yard.

It had been there maybe 20-30yrs. It took a bl00dy legend  DH to drive the Big red tractor in reverse about 2-3kms at a top speed of 5 kms per hour pulling the old tractor over a rough grassy track, downhill , uphill downhill ...

A few years on, put to pasture ...it glowed in the afternoon son !

Secret boy talk ...
~Grandpa's ~ farm settles this Friday - last Friday the tilt tray (from town) moved the old rusty tractor to retire in our dusty pastures. It might be an old rusty tractor but the memories are priceless.

Grateful for Square Eyes

I am grateful for the heartache, headaches and hilarity in our daily lives. Sometimes (especially with teenagers) it isn't easy but it is still enriching and worth every minute.

I have lived through the deepest sadness of losing a child.I know God had a reason, I am still working that one out. I am grateful for her brief life, though it wasn't the joy we all imagine when we first see those two little lines.

I am grateful for my two little boys (and the bigger one).I find that the hardest part is looking at my little boys wondering would they be here if my little girl was.

I am grateful IVF gave us the chance to 'birth' living children. Sadly not everyone can share the joys children bring.

Playing a trick on me ... Joel comes to announce Sam has square eyes from to much TV, then says BIG YELLOW square eyes ...I paid no attention ...then he lead 'blind' Sam to me !
I am grateful for my children because they give me a reason to clean smile, laugh, live and play (and bake gingerbread people).

I pray the 'great' 'full' ness doesn't diminish and on days when I feel jaded I can focus on all these grateful things.

I am grateful that no matter how bad things seem and when they press all my buttons and I lose my cool -  my precious children are forgiving and still kiss & hug me goodnight.

(The 5 drops from the other day ...they rushed out with umbrellas to dance in the rain. Yesterday, we got 18mm)

I am most grateful for the 18mm rain we got last night and hopefully it will be followed by more rain.

This year I'm trying to consciously seek out moments of grateful, be it the mundane or a little bit of magic in my own life .

What are you grateful for today ?

{Giveaway} ~ No toy or lunchbox gets left behind ...with Stuck On you

My kindergarten boys have settled into school and they know the school routine and pack drill backwards.

Though now they have been catching the bus to school and home again 3-4 days a week - it's out the door by 7.50am . Some days things are hectic and stuff is getting lost or left behind at school..... now mum isn't there to pick the bits and pieces in the afternoon.

I noticed a dozen of the kids , just in our class (80 kinders in total ) , have the similar food containers - not to mention seeing a sea of identical,  on the ground, school jumpers and hats. The school's lost property trolley is overflowing ...but not with our stuff I hope.

Over the years I used a few different labeling methods ...even the big black permanent maker didn't work on the school bomber jacket for my oldest son - he still misplaced it . The iron on labels just fell off or were taken off !

The twins needed name labels for daycare and I've tried a few different kinds ... the little rascals loved peeling them off or using them on artwork at home. They also use them on toys, their Leapsters and anything if I leave them in reach
 ...this won't always work !

we really put their names on the other boot too !
Before big school started I bought one pack of with both their initials and our surname on one set of labels - #scrooge #fail !

My big mistake is now I don't know which kid has left their school jacket or lunchbox or whatever behind .They each claim the item at home is theirs. Cue for many tears and tantrums ..I'm talking about me now.

I've lost count of the Tupperware lunchboxes my eldest son lost . On Monday, when I do Literacy groups in the classroom, I usually find a food storage container with our label , on top of the kinder's cupboard ...imagine the ones that get left behind.

Sam and Joel are the same clothing size , with 1/2 size difference in Clark school shoes too. As they get older I know identifying their own personal items will be more important ...who wants to wear their brother's undies.

'Stuck on you' comes highly recommended - I've seen a few reviews recently.

The timing was perfect when I was invited to try their products and chose a design for each drummer boy.

The boys loved helping me chose, personalising their own design and colours .The website is so easy to navigate and 'KID' user friendly. It would have taken me less time if I didn't let HELP ...just saying !

We chose the Out and About pack because they wanted the personalised drink bottles and we needed spares too.

The products are excellent and I would definitely recommend them to anyone - you can never have enough labels - just ask my boys.

The lovely people at Stuck on you even popped in an extra surprise for the boys. They were thrilled and couldn't wait to take them to school for news.

How she knew their favourite 'quiet' activity is drawing and colouring in-  I don't know. My boys even carry little notebooks and textas to draw with other kids on the bus ...but you know I mean in the notebooks ! The notebooks and pencil cases, pencils and textas included made their eyes pop.

Lucky for me the Artist series activity pack keeps them busy while I'm cooking dinner and then it packs up nicely inside the pencil case ! Seeing them colour-in quietly makes my heart sing !!

Stuck on you's range has expanded incredibly over the years if you haven't checked their website lately- go do it now ...I'll wait.

They don't just have labels - have personalized clothes , wooden name puzzles , sports bags, and home essentials and much more.

I missed seeing the kitchen labels for me !

When you have finished browsing come back and tell me which pack you would like to purchase because I'm giving away your choice to win of any of the value packs to $49.95- someone to suit everyone  ! Two winners !! will be chosen.

The boys spied the wheelie bags and lunch coolers too. As we definitely have enough toys - I'll be sending our family to the website to chose the twins' birthday gifts , they have bookmarked a wishlist.

Tell me your greatest {funny or not} child or item or toy moment or why you should win one of these awesome prize packs ?  ...did you leave someone important behind ! Also tell me what pack you'll like to win.

Animal Encounters ~ Wild Life Sydney

This morning we had an incredible experience at Wild Life Sydney, Darling Harbour. My boys loved the opportunity to pat and feel the animals. The staff are very friendly and encourage children to participate and gently touch the animals.

It was fun to get up close and personal with so many endangered and dangerous animals. Imagine being metres away from psychopathic predators like  crocodiles , venomous Tiger snakes and the little jail birds "Emu Chicks"

Due to extreme time constraints I have to post the press release with permission ...since I am leaving on caravan adventure holiday any time soon.

WILD LIFE Sydney opens its doors at Darling Harbour

WILD LIFE Sydney welcomes baby emu chicks as it officially launches the new Australian Animal Adventure in time for September school holidays

Sydney – 13 September, 2011 – WILD LIFE Sydney today opened its doors to a new Australian animal adventure in the heart of Sydney. To coincide with the September school holidays, Merlin Entertainments Group revealed its newest attraction – a journey through the iconic regions of Australia and the animals that live within them – as it officially launched WILD LIFE Sydney, at Aquarium Wharf, Darling Harbour.

To mark the unveiling of the new attraction – formerly Sydney Wildlife World – WILD LIFE Sydney today welcomed baby emus to the all-Aussie animal experience.

The cute, striped baby emu chicks were introduced into their new home in The Outback – one of eight iconic walk-through habitats that make up the new Australian animal journey – following a unique upbringing and very successful partnership between *John Morony Wildlife Care Centre and WILD LIFE Sydney. The centre housed the baby emus throughout their month-long quarantine period with the baby chicks being cared for by John Morony staff and inmates.

Following from their quarantine period, the striped baby emus – endearingly termed the ‘Jail Birds’ – have now made the trip to their new home at WILD LIFE Sydney where they will play a star role throughout the September school holidays.

Alongside their neighbour – the towering Red Kangaroo - the baby emus will call the Outback’s Red Centre habitat home, completing Australia’s Coat of Arms in one iconic habitat.

On the new Australian animal adventure at WILD LIFE Sydney, visitors will be taken on an amazing Australian journey as they travel into Australia’s most famous and traveled locations. Walking through eight iconic Australian habitats, this Australian animal adventure takes on average 1.5 to 2 hours from start to finish and will see visitors encounter Australia’s most loved and feared animals as they travel to Kakadu Gorge, The Outback, Gum Tree Valley, Daintree Rainforest, Butterfly Tropics and more.

Mike Drinkwater, WILD LIFE Sydney Life Sciences Manger, commented: “WILD LIFE Sydney is more than just a new name. Our goal was to recreate the iconic regions of Australia, complete with the animals you would find in that geographical area. It’s great to be able to bring domestic and international visitors a new Australian animal experience with enhanced interactive displays, more entertaining shows, feeding sessions and enhanced walk-through habitats. Our visitors get a chance to experience first-hand the diversity of Australia’s incredible flora and fauna, all without leaving the city.”

WILD LIFE Sydney is home to the un-bearably cute koala, Australia’s largest kangaroo, the world’s deadliest bird and WILD LIFE’s monster croc, Rex!

PS * The John Morony centre is not far from where we live . Once I took a Baby Sugar Glider Possum we found ,at the top of my MIL's curtains, to JMC who are also WIRES carers. They had lots of rescued and injured Aussie animals recuperating there.

This is not a sponsored post but we were at Wild Life Sydney as invited guests via Hausmann Communciations. All opinions expressed are my own.
