Crust Gourmet Pizza - Once bitten , Smitten -WIN a {Friday Night Off} kit

How does a night off cooking sound ?
It's every mother's dream ...
What is the favourite take away meal in our house after hot chips ?
Pizza.

I was so excited for the opportunity to try Crust Gourmet Pizza. The pizza everyone is talking about - I've heard so many good things about it on twitter and read all the reviews.

I ordered in store so I watched the Crust Pizza guys in action. You can order online or by phone as well. They have Gluten free and wholemeal base options as well on some pizzas and even healthier menu options.

I saw the amazing display of fresh ingredients on display at the shop front window (totally behind glass). The staff were very generous with toppings and they were fast and neat. They were very friendly too. They were topping up the display with more fresh ingredients in new trays as I watched.

About 2 mins after I placed my order my brother called to place an order with me - So I ordered extra pizza for my Brother and his family.

As we live a little too far to enjoy it hot at home I was planning on giving my Mum a night off cooking too and sharing it with her (she lives close to the Penrith store). So we had a Family Night in but out with the my extended family.

It was so hard to resist sampling a piece right away - the aroma coming from those cardboard boxes was amazing!

kid's chicken & pineapple with real chicken
ham & pineapple

Crust recently launched their Kids Meal range,  a 9″ inch pizza in a choice of three flavours : Ham And Pineapple, Chicken And Pineapple, and Cheese and organic juice.

I drooled over  chose the Peking Duck : marinated Peking duck breast, steamed bok choy, shallots and sesame seeds, with a hoisin base and garnished with fresh chilli  (They used whole ones we could remove them without any burning)
Hubby had the Wagyu Beef, Asparagus, Red Capsicum, Shallots & Marinated Tiger Prawns on a Tomato base, drizzled with Hollandaise sauce, served with Salt & Cracked Pepper. Well we all tried it so he didn't get much ...

Crust Pizza really was the most delicious pizza we have all tasted - all the kids agreed.

My Brother paid for a Meat deluxe from Meat range and Crust Supreme and they were was also a winner. We still had leftovers for the next day. The Caesar salad with Chicken was delicious.

My boys at five years old didn't finish a whole pizza but they ate every bit of the 2 slices that had - a first, plus the topping stayed intact and didn't slide off !
Did I mention they have desserts

Now that i've got your attention ...

One lucky winner will receive an incredible Crust *Friday Night Off kit which includes
2 x Upper Crust {Super Gourmet} pizzas, 2 x kids pizzas with organic juicebox, 1.25 l soft drink, salad and 4 desserts, pack of UNO cards and a DVD for Mum & Dad.

Baker's delight giveaway and win $5000

As you might know I mentioned we have been building a wood-fired pizza oven at the farm. The final render hasn't been applied so I have yet to post our Pizza Oven Project.

Over the years we have tried many store bought pizza bases to make unique home made pizzas. I enjoy adding our favourite toppings. I experiment with our own dough sometimes. In the dough experiments I haven't yet found perfection. What works one time , is not as good the next.

Generous sized base. I prepare all ingredients ready to toss on top
Since I tend to decide on pizza at the last minute I often don't have 3 hrs up my sleeve to knock up some dough.

When I heard Bakers Delight‘s had added new pizza bases to their range, I jumped at the chance to try them out. They are preservative free which it very important to me.They come in herb or plain , sold in a 2 pack. Ours were plain. I appreciate Baker's delight products are baked daily on the premises, from scratch. My experience has always been the best.

Baker's delight bases are perfect for the nights all I want to worry about is to what to top them with.We have tried everything from specialty bases to ones in the frozen section of supermarket. Baker's Delight are by far the best ever.

The males in this house are very traditional with their pizza - a mix of meat , more meat and cheese is usually the go. Usually the only vegetable is in the tomato sauce in the base.

pre Roasted chicken, BBQ base on mushroom, bacon, onion & snuck in spinach leaf & sun dried tomato,mozzarella/low fat tasty cheddar Side #2 Roasted sweet potato, feta, spinach, 2 x olives, sun dried tomato (less cheese).

My choices of flavoursome varieties are 'pfft' at. Plus it gets expensive to add 4 slices of mushroom :0 or a 2 pieces of sun dried tomato , 1-2 olives or a few spinach leaves when buying takeaway.

Fortunately at home I can experiment, use better quality meats and less cheese than 'traditional' and add a few of my own choice ingredients.

I like half and half to get more variety, exactly what I did when we tummy taste tested the Baker’s Delight pizza bases.
#1 - Leg ham, Salami, sun dried tomato, baby spinach. #2 side Cheese & Garlic
The delivery guy told my DH it was the strangest delivery he had ever made - home delivering fresh pizza bases. Our bases were family size, fresh, soft and thick, just the way DH likes them.
In the oven in under 5 mins
I am still learning the art of using just the right amount of topping ingredients so the pizza doesn't end up soggy in middle with edges too burnt crisp to enjoy. These were good.

ready in 10min or so
Even Mr Fussy wasn't missing out
The pizza bases were average thickness,we didn't try rolling them thinner; apparently you can.

Personally, I prefer a thin and crispy style. I enjoyed these though ,crispy edges with a pizza that held it's shape and toppings.

What's your favourite twist on a pizza?
Do you consider yourself a Masterchef ? (I missed that episode where the contestants created their own pizzas).

If so ~ Baker's Delight have a competiton to win $5000 + 4 home pizza ovens - they want to see the best home made pizza creations. Simply create your own pizza masterpiece using their fresh bases and upload a picture to Facebook. The pizza with most votes wins. Be quick. There are some very imaginative palates already.

Bad news ~ I don't have $5000 to giveaway, but to celebrate the release of the new range of pizza bases, Bakers Delight have given me $25 worth - 5 x $5 vouchers to giveaway.

Since $5 doesn't go far I've decided to do two prizes $15 & $10 - though conditions are one voucher per person per day.

To win , share your signature pizza toppings and any pizza making tips for me in the comments below.
Closes Tuesday July 12th.
Then use the bases to create your own signature pizza and maybe win yourself $5000.

Grateful Saturday - Cattle grids , pizza ovens and contracts.

So much to feel grateful for and not enough time to scribble it down.

Cattle grids - We are grateful to be at the farm for Easter. We are 5kms away at one end of the farm from the rest of the family at the big farmhouse. There are 20 of us in total. It's lovely to have everyone here.

They are grateful the small boys are here and not there :)

I'm grateful we get invited for dinner but I hate opening and closing gates ...just saying - I'll be grateful when DH puts more cattle grids in soon.

The 20' somethings left a gate open too so DH had to chase a few cows back to another paddock...then we realised a mum & calf were separated.
So we had to turn around, get out of the car again and chase the 'Mum' back through.
During dinner we heard the 20' somethings had their own adventures chasing the same group of cows/calves after they realised the mistake of not shutting the gate ;) .

Pizza Ovens ~ J - our niece's gorgeous hubby is coming to start building us an outdoor ,wood fired, pizza oven today - I am so excited. It won't be ready to cook in this weekend though I'm grateful that we are making a start.

Contracts ~ Wednesday, we signed up with a Real Estate agent to list our house in Sydney for sale. I'm grateful we finally did it but also anticipating an incredible mix of emotions when it comes time to move.... after we find a buyer.

Maxabella hasn't got a grateful link up today but feel free to share your link or gratefuls in the comments if you wish.

number 66 -yay and Tupperware.

Big woo hoo ! this morning I found my 66th GDUNH icon (don't get too excited nothing EXTREME yet !) So I qualify for Grand Prize drawing.

I like '66.It is a very good vintage.

It has rained almost all day today a steady rain, sometimes heavy and sometimes a light drizzling but we need it.

Tonight, we had the yummiest roast lamb dinner at my Brother's and my Mum made us some delicious choc muffins... and extras to bring home.

Did I mention I love chocolate ?

Late yesterday afternoon I went to a Tupperware party.I was invited impromptu when I saw Lexi shopping in Aldi's Saturday morning .I wasn't that interested in more TW - I have cupboards full of it - my Step Grandmother (complicated) was a very early Tupperware representative so I knew all about it growing up.

I was at a loose end, DH was working late (normally only till 1pm Sat) and I knew the boys would enjoy a little play with C (Lexi's son almost 1yr). I am actually almost same age as L's mum and she has a son 2 months older than S & J. She couldn't make it because he was sick.

I tasted a yummy new pizza idea made in the TW Jello container. It was a bit messy when I made it for dinner but a new trick/treat and healthier.(I HOPE)

I also tasted the Aldi's brownie style biscuits and I was impressed !Try them yourself and see.
