Grateful for Cake

It's the start of another birthday week in our house with the twins 5th birthday on Friday and mine the following.
My talents do not extend to the above creations. How cool are they !
I am grateful for cake, these are pretty to look at but I wonder how good they taste. I go for taste over waste!
I am grateful too for Open houses ...they force me to clean.
I am grateful for my gorgeous Sister in laws. One is minding the boys tonight while we attend the 40th birthday party of another. The other is flying down from Queensland on Thursday for the boys birthday.
She snapped up some cheap flights and we'll love seeing her again.

So, what's making you smile today?
... Please add a link back to Maxibella in your post. Blog hop to visit other bloggers who are spreading a little sunshine.

I'm also welcoming back Flickr Friday - I loved this photo meme from 2008. Saturday Morning Ogre Mum is reviving it. Make your own mosaic and link up.

Always grateful for cake! Especially the home made kind :)

yes , I tend to prefer homemade - stick a few Smarties or chocolate on it and it keeps them all happy.Easy for me too.
Mmmmm, cake!! Can't wait to see what you do for the boys' birthday!

Daisy I shall be researching something easy but creative with lots of chocolate :) or smarties
Cake never lasts long in our place, whether it looks good or not (unless it's fruit cake with those awful cherries in it. Can't handle them). Enjoy your birthday season!
Emma same here no one eats fruit cake with glace cherries here either. Cake is goobled up quickly here - last week within 15 mins of it being baked was Orange & poppy seed - 3 sons, a friend (17) and hubby & I.
Happy Birthday to all of you.
I'm impressed with those cake decorating skills, especially the striped ribbon on the centre image and the Noah's Ark. I prefer home made for flavour though, a lot of bought cakes are tasteless fluff.

I agree , home made is good and who wants to miss licking the bowl & beaters.
I was very impressed too.
mmmm....you're making me hungry. My brain is wired to like sweets...actually, wired to like all food!

Thanks Tara - I am sure they will have a great time. Yes, everybody loves cake ... I must go set one to bake .
Thanks for playing with me Trish!

Hope the twins have an awesome birthday. My TEM8 [on Monday she'll be TEM9] has requested we make chocolate crackles & cupcakes tomorrow, ready to be demolished on Monday. Somehow I can't see them lasting that long lol Although I realised last night I am nearly out of self raising flour! *insert ohhhh dear! face here* But I do have sprinkles, snakes, jeally beans, freckles and.... oh bugga I can't remember the other lolly.... ready to decorate with :)

Happy birthday to TEM9 - yes I won't forget chocolate crackles either.
Lollies make any cake taste 100% better.
I'm feeling rather hungry all of a sudden and I don't have any cake! Aarrgghh!!! Only this arvo I read somewhere that birthdays are a reminder to eat cake! Too right! :)
