Wordless Wednesday : Hope for Cure

I was asked to be a guest speaker and share my story as a "Survivor" at our local Relay For Life (from the Grandstand balcony).

I survived my public speaking debut in front of a few hundred people. The next day they gave me these flowers to say Thank you - totally unexpected and such a lovely surprise.

Relay for Life was such a moving experience (pun not intended) -
[ Saturday step count was 34223 (25.46km) and Sunday - 18km ( 23937 steps ) from midnight ]

It really is true what they say - there is strength in numbers. Every step is a step closer. A Kiwi friend of mine's little girl walked an honour lap at their local Relay for Life last year. She was diagnosed with a spinal tumour at 12 months old and after surgery to remove it, they were told she'd never walk again. She's now 5 and while she still faces challenges on a daily basis, she sure proved the doctors wrong on the walking!

What a lovely experience to speak about being a survivor. It sounds like it was wonderful day too and those baked goods look fabulous x
Congratulations on your speaking debut!
There is so much inspiration, motivation and hope from hearing someone's story. A great call to action too.

Congratulations on being a speaker, it must have been a surreal experience. I did relay a couple of years ago and it was a great way to raise money.
