May 25: Fly on the wall

You can be a fly on the wall at any time/stage of history, where do you go?

I thought about this quite a lot.
Though I excelled in History at school there is no where I want to re-visit . I am drawn to personal events in my life instead.

I would like to be a fly on the wall at these events -

The circumstances of my conception (ha ha not doing the deed but the events leading up to it - family joke)

My birth - to see my 18yr old mum (and dad) welcome me into the world via a vaginal breech birth (with forceps).

The birth of ~Charlotte~ born still - because for most of the time I zoned out or spaced out on Pethidine and pain (emotional and physical) . I can't see the details and I want to. I am also curious when she was conceived - as the pregnancy came as a big surprise to us after 12yrs of infertility.

The conception of my IVF twins and their birthing in the operating theatre. I had a spinal block and flat on my back with a huge screen in front of me blocking the view. I missed their entrance via the sun roof. I missed almost the rest of that day - I vaguely remember seeing them that night - not clearly and it's one of the most important times in my life...

Right in the middle of the World Cup at 35 wks and 4 days. The Dr wore fake tattos.
The day we welcomed our little miracles  part 1
and part 2

Where would you go?

I think it makes lots of sense that you'd want to see the birth of Charlotte, and your twins. My own personal events hold more interest for me than other historical events.

I would also love to be a fly on the wall at the birth of all my children: the first two were unplanned c-sections, and the last was a (last minute) planned c-section of my twins. Epidurals and spinal really zone me out, so I feel I missed a lot. I would love to see all the gory bits, but that could be because I'm studying nursing and am planning on doing a post-grad in midwifery.

I studied Nursing and worked as a nurse for over 10yrs - now I can't go back so easily because I've been out too long.
Lovely to meet you Georgia.
Great idea. While I was at the birth of both my babies, I wouldn't mind seeing it again from the wall, there is plenty that I don't remember.

Yes, though it seems weird that I was there I also didn't see it like everyone else.
Those would be such special moments to be able to see bird's eye. I remember my births ALL too well and they were magical so I can see why you'd want to for you babies. Fly on wall for me, lots of boring history stuff but also to see my dad's parents, they died before I was born.

I like what you wrote - made me think again too.
I want to see how the Egyptians designed and built the pyramids.
I would definitely go back to the birth of my baby girl. I had to have an emergency c section, and the epidural didn't work - so they had to give me a general, so I was asleep for her birth :(
I really don't remember anything until going to visit her in the NICU 24 hours after she was born :(

Such a special time isn't , a birth.
Love this Trish. I would love to see all my birth's again, and notice all the details. Especially Ava's which I felt less with it for. So many moments to revisit though. I'm sure I could think of some historical ones too if I thought about this long enough. :)

My labors went fast; three children and a total time in labor at 4 hours and 23 minutes between the three of them. I was awake and present when they were born. You didn't miss anything. But I agree with you that my own story is much more of interest to me than that of any other event. I would like to have heard the exchange between the three doctors the day I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had the mammogram, ultrasound and biopsies and a diagnosis of stage 3 in the matter of 7 hours. I wonder what was said between them that demanded that much urgency. I live in Emory City, so I'm sure that having an overabundance of doctors was part of the cause, but still I know people who wait weeks between appointments to get the diagnosis.
You have selected such wonderful moments in time xo
