Back-to-School Baking and SunRice Mini Bites {Giveaway}

This post contains a product review and giveaway for SunRice Mini Bites.

So, chances were good that I was finally going to bake today.

While it is surprising cooler in the Sunshine State - well, by our standards anyway Brisbane (and Sydney) will be in the high 20's while the southernmost states will be 36 ° +, worse off is Adelaide which will hit 41 ° !

I planned to bake some back-to-school treats for days ...

if you follow me on instagram - I did it
Weetbix slice
Coconut honey Oat bars

This morning I was housebound from 8:30am -12 waiting for NBN (Internet) guy to assess our place - hopefully so I can increase my broadband limit from 8G to 100G without extra $. He didn't arrive , so I called and somehow hubby had his wires crossed -it's tomorrow.

Brilliant.
The kids wanted to catch the bus anyway.
I wanted to meet Joel's teacher. I know Sam's gorgeous teacher.

I have 4 lovely lads here , all talking at once and playing couch Superheros. Oh dear, me.
Thank goodness they went to the secret hideout, with snacks...for 5 mins.
Fair is fair. Their grandmother had the four (her grandsons and my two) of them yesterday afternoon till this morning.

Though my mum is the cake baking Queen and no doubt will create lots of sweet baked treats for my boys while minding them, when I'm in hospital - they love savory items too.

Normally, they have 2 pieces fruit, 1 savory item and another. I struggle with finding affordable, yummy and healthy lunchbox snacks. I'd rather they didn't eat chips and they are only a rare treat.

Last week, while on holiday, we road tested SunRice Mini bites. They loved them, they were already big fans of thin rice/corn cakes - plain flavour , with a scrap of butter or Vegemite.

SunRice Wholegrain Mini Bites are delicious small, brown rice cakes, a perfect bite-size snack for hungry boys who want to stuff them in quick, so they can run off and play. Packed full of whole grains, seasoned with natural flavours, mini bites contain less fat than regular potato chips – a win when packing lunches for school.

Mini Bites are available in three flavours: Spooky Original, Devilish Chicken and Creepy Cheese. Devilish Chicken was their favourite. I was surprised how many were in the packet. Enough for two kids easy if you wanted to split them.

My boys devoured them and instantly asked me to buy more. I doubt they will share.

They are slightly smaller than a 'Jatz' type cracker.
They are the perfect size for adult appetizers or lunch too - I spread a little tuna, cherry tomato or avocado or cream cheese on mine.

Available in the Woolworths’ health food aisle, they have high wholegrain content and nutritional value which makes Mini bites National Healthy School Canteen Amber compliant .

I have 3 x 8 packs , one of each variety to giveaway.

My son starts kindy next week and I'm freaking about packed lunches. We are gluten free and try to be grain free also, so whilst also having to be nut free for the school, I'm going to have to get very creative :)

Hello from #teamIBOT
I love popcorn - air popped and delicious. Its a take anywhere snack that I can't live without.
I make my own cream cheese and put that in little containers and serve crackers with them. These crackers look like they would be great with it
Now that I have to make the boys' lunches for pre-school, I'm on the look out for healthy, yummy snacks for their lunch box! Thanks for letting us know about these gems, Trish. Will try them out!
My children just love their pikelets, just as long as I call them pancakes. I mix up the batter and place yummy sultanas through the mix which makes for a lovely sweet treat. At times I also add a soft mashed up banana - a great way to use up those older bananas in the fruit basket. Both of these versions are a real hit. Both girls like plain margarine on theirs and our son drowns them in maple syrup. Even the builders who were renovating our house started to expect and get use to 'pancakes' for afternoon tea.
My mum makes these cheese and vegemite cheesy things that I have copied, but then I have to hide them from hubby. After school I usually end up making them eat what they didn't at school/kindy! xx
One I can eat in peace!
We have frozen grapes and orange quarters as after school summer snacks ! These are the perfect alternative to sugary ice blocks!
I love my Vegemite on Vita Weat. I still love watching the Vegemite ooze out of the holes!
My kids won't touch these at all! None of them, which is weird cause usually one or two will like things. Glad you've found something new though. New healthy snacks are worth their weight in gold :)
Jelly with fruit. We use a diet jelly, lots of flavour! we make six snack containers worth from one packet. A favourite is the lime flavour with tin pineapple. Kids love them. Its refreshing.
Carrot sticks with hommus. Yum!
Homemade banana muffins (banana's homegrown from my in-laws)
Cream of chicken cup a soup, in an enormous mug, with 3 - 4 rice cakes crumbled up in it. I love it when they go soggy, eating them up with a spoon. I really look forward to my afternoon snack, even in the Summer.
Pumpernickel bread spread really thick with butter. I know the butter is bad for me, but it tastes so good and hasn't done me any harm (yet)!

Peckish Cheese crackers, apple slices and carrot sticks. Savoury, sweet and crunchy.
Avocado on crackers. One of the few healthy foods master 6 will eat so while avos are in season and reasonably priced we've been devouring them most arvos after school.

My little man loves Sweetcorn and Zucchini Fritters packed in his lunchbox, especially if he also has a little tub of tzatziki to dip them into!

For a healthy afternoon snack and one both my little one and I love it's Goulburn Valley apple snack bites. Yum!
My two love strawberries and cherries, so lots of trips to the market, often they have to be replaced by banana's and apples due to price.
My recent post Ten Blessings of the Week!
