Wellness and Chasing your dreams {Giveaway ~ RedBalloon for Mother's day}

This post is sponsored by Wellwoman and Digital Parents Collective

Many of life's great issues receive the same treatment .We size up the situation, we sift through evidence, weigh things in the balance and respond to the change in circumstances as best we can.

When you think about cancer and what you would do if you had to face that trauma - burying your head in the sand isn't very productive.

The inevitable question we ask is how do I stay well - physically , emotionally and financially ? Without question , after getting through my initial treatment , financial security has been one of our biggest concerns since my breast cancer diagnosis.

Australia has one of the best healthcare systems but there were many out of pocket costs and if you want your choice of surgeon you can expect to pay more.

Then how do you cope with the financial burden of maintaining your lifestyle,  ensuring your home life runs smoothly without too much disruption. It isn't easy to dismiss the little things like childcare, getting the kids to school, preparing meals - let alone the bigger issues like the mortgage or paying the rent.

Wellwoman, by AIG Direct, is a newly launched cancer insurance product in Australia for women aged 18- 69yrs - to assist in maintaining a woman's lifestyle as she focuses her energies on recovery.

When you are diagnosed with any of the seven cancers specific to women - Breast cancer, Ovarian cancer, Cervical cancer, Cancer of the uterus, vagina, vulva or fallopian tubes. Wellwoman - cover pays a one-off, lump sum payment of between $25,000 and $45,000 after a confirmed diagnosis, Subject to the exclusions and conditions in the policy. Of course if you have already had cancer then this may not be for you.

Wellwoman insurance is designed as a one off measure of support should a woman face a female specific cancer diagnosis and is not intended to replace health or life insurance.

This leaves you to focus on your treatment and recovery ; things that matter most - steadiness and stability. The payment can be used for anything you choose e.g. a holiday or mortgage repayments or for you to chase your dreams.

My next favouite quote at moment ...unknown author , my photo !
I am ready to chase my dream again and put my energy into my most important goals . I have the determination to focus on wellness and happiness . I need to put some other goals on hold for now ...like running a half marathon.

For now, I've picked a few goals and I'm focusing on those that make me feel a well woman like ...exercising, feeling sand between my toes and even enjoying a massage !

RedBalloon

Now I get to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a Day Spa treatment from RedBalloon – a One Hour Full body and Mind Massage (valued at $110 - available in Australia nationally). Just in time for Mother's Day.

Going to Pilates and having an hour to myself where I'm not anyone's mum, i love my kids just that bit more when i get home
I feel like a well woman when I can sit for about 30mins with a cuppa and a book and just have some time out!
I have to say, when I close the door on alcohol, build in the habit of a daily exercise routine at dawn and make an effort to hug loved ones daily and laugh at every opportunity I can find, it's this holistic approach that makes me glow, no one single answer. Thanks Trish

ooh how I would LOVE a massage right about now! With all this training i've been doing, I've injured my shoulder but I'm scared to quit training just because of this injury!! I need a nice relaxing massage to make it all feel better and I stay dedicated to training!!

Plus an hour away from the hubby and kids would be oh so relaxing!!

Going for a walk along the riverside toward the open ocean, breathing in fresh sea air, with the feeling of the suns rays on my face, and my family by my side. That makes me feel very well!
I feel like a well woman when I'm taking the best care of myself that I can. Which mean self care. Self care for me is taking time out for myself, saying no when I'm feeling stretched, doing things that fill me up like painting and making candles. But most importantly for me it's recognising when I need to take care of myself before I break - mentally.

On the physical front I make sure I have the annual and bi annual tests that I need to have. Having three children, the youngest 6 I can't afford to not do this.
My recent post I'm going to tell you a secret, but if you meet me in person you are NOT allowed to do it!

I feel like a well woman by putting myself first occasionally. By not running myself into the ground looking after my entire family but learning to say NO SORRY I CAN'T when asked to voluteer for the millionth time this month, by limiting my committees and allowing myself time to relax and smell the roses and enjoy weekends with my gorgeous family.

I also check my breasts every month due my to family history of breast cancer, I have a colonoscopy every 5 years due to family history of prostate cancer, I eat lots of fruits, vegetables and limit processed foods, plus I have regular appointments with a chiropractor to ensure my body is in alignment.

Most of all I smile, causing being happy on the inside makes me happy and well on the outside!
I must admit it has been quite a while since I have felt like a well woman. I always seem to be over tired. Had a blood test and it turns out I am anaemic. I am in the process of going through all sorts of tests to determine why exactly. Anyway, What makes me feel like a well woman is helping others. Making someone less fortunate than me feel loved and cared for. I do what I can.

I feel like a well woman when I get enough exercise, enough sleep & some time for me.
Looking Good makes me feel like a woman - nails done, hair styled, makeup on, cute dress and heels!
I feel like a Wellness Women when I have my green smoothies, my green tea, 1 cup of organic coffee, vegetarian meals at night time.
And walking along the Beach for 10,000 steps. And a good nights sleep - without a good nights sleep nothing else helps.

Getting some sleep, drinking plenty of water, doing some exercise, sadly 3 things I am not very good at lately. I did however recently make an effort to go for a check up and get all the routine checks done because my husband is seriously ill and I don't want my children to end up with no parents!

I feel like a well woman when there's lots of fresh, healthy fruit and veg to eat and after I've had a long stroll along the beach and a good night's sleep (which is hopefully possible after wearing the kids out on the beach! Lol)
That, and you can't beat a good pedicure, or at least just painting your toe nails! I'm not sure what it is about it, but I always feel so much better when I've got cute little pink or red toe nails.
Space. To. Breathe.
And read a book. I borrowed three books two weeks ago (when my second-born was two weeks old). I don't know when I thought I was going to get to read them!

Thanks for hosting the giveaway.

Clean eating, nothing feels better than knowing your food is totally beneficial to your health.
I feel like a well woman when my house is clean. My kids are clean and I can sit down and just relax for just that moment to sip on some tea. Being in my hammock would help too.

I'm struggling health wise at the moment and finally given myself some much needed time off. Although time off clearly means different things to different people and I think stepping away even further from all the people that I felt were sucking the life out of me with their continued demands will be a huge help with my recovery.

Getting sleep, having a shower everyday and being able to smile even when everything feels like it awful is being a well woman to me. Not crying and depressed, caring for my children and knowing when I need help

When I have a clean house, dinner cooked, I can relax with a cup of tea, do some reading and enjoy the tranquility of an empty house for a few hours before the chaos starts!
When I wake up before the alarm clock. I feel alive and ready to roll
It's been a long time since I felt well due to my fibromyalgia and arthritis and migraines. A good night sleep and a gentle normal awakening is good for me.

I would kill for a massage!
I feel at maximum wellness at those times when I've been able to successfully divide my time between all areas of my life and everything seems balanced - when I feel productive yet not stressed at work, when I feel that I'm maintaining my home to a good (enough) standard, when my daughter seems happy and we've been spending some quality time together, and when I've been able to take time out for myself to exercise as well as relax. It certainly isn't the way life is all the time, but when it does feel that way, it feels really good!
