Wordless Wednesday - Beautiful Lengths

Chop 1 - June 28th - 1 week after surgery - easier to care for hair and in preparation for Chemo

First time I've had short hair in over 18yrs
Playing with wigs at Look Good Feel Good ...just for fun.

Now 2.5 months after the big shave , though I am on a different weekly chemo , the good news is my hair is slowly starting to re-grow - only 0.5 mm - still barely bald.

When they tell you will lose all your hair - it can leave you speechless and shattered.

Today I wanted to spread the word - even though it is Wordless Wednesday about Beautiful lengths.

Beautiful Lengths is a program by Pantene in partnership with charity Look Good…Feel Better, designed to encourage women to cut, grow and donate 20cm of their hair to create real hair wigs for women who have lost their hair to cancer treatment, and we’re calling on Australian’s to get involved and make the kindest cut of all.

Monday 12th November will mark the launch of the inaugural Beautiful Lengths National Donate Your Hair Week in Australia kicking off with a hair donation event at Martin Place in Sydney CBD with Pantene ambassadors leading hairstylist, Barney Martin, and beauty expert, Zoe Foster.

The first 100 women to donate their ponytails will receive a free haircut from THE Barney Martin and his team of top hairstylists. A gift bag full of products will be presented to every woman who donates their ponytail as well.

In order to participate in the National Donate Your Hair Week event, hair donors must be able to travel to Martin Place for 8am on 12th November and have at least 20cm of hair to donate.

Hair must also be less than 5% grey, and free from chemical treatments, hair extensions and permanent dye. A detailed list of donation requirements can be found on Beautiful Lengths website www.beautifullengths.com.au.
I'm donating my 4 ponytails !
I couldn't find a suitable wig for me so I opted for the nude nutt (only at home), beanies and scarves. I hope someone else will benefit from my hair donation.

Please visit other W W' ers and especially if you could visit the other 4 blogs that happen to be linking up in the same row as you ?

PS - Anyone who wishes to donate their hair but cannot get to Sydney for the event on 12th November can find out how to hold their own donation party by downloading a party host pack from the Beautiful Lengths website.

I have long hair but I dye it to hide the greys so I don't think it would be suitable. A little girl from here at 6 years old donated 35cm of her gorgeous hair last year. Such a brave thing to do. It is terribly vain of me but my hair is something I would hate to lose. It's such a visual thing.

Trish you are a very brave woman going through all this and sharing and educating us. I think you are gorgeous with or without hair. Annaleis xxx

The pink really suited you! Gosh, that was a lot of hair. I've got non-grey, chemical-free, not coloured hair. Unfortunately, I don't have 20cm to be able to cut off, or I'd so be there. :)

Gorgeous photos :) I wish I could donate my hair, but it's coloured (though slowly growing out). But I'll keep it in mind for the future :)

What an amazing thing to do! Sadly mine is too grey and coloured now. But it would be so difficult make the decision to part with my long hair...so I can understand how gut wrenching it must have been for you to lose yours because you had no choice.

Great photos Trish.
I've said it before and I'll say it again...you are such an inspiration. xx

Personally I liked the blue on you! Very Katy Perry-ish! Beautiful Lengths is an amazing organization. I wish I had the hair to donate! Beauty doesn't come from hair though, it comes from confidence, personality & heart, all of which you have an abundance of. xo

What a wonderful cause! My hair isn't long enough to do something like that but my sister's is. She is getting married 1st of December and wants to cut her hair off afterwards so I am going to send her this link so she can get involved.

You are truly inspiring Trish! I didn't even think to donate mine at the time, and now, I'm kind of attached to my hair. I've got a post to do about Beautiful Lengths too, but I'll be donating my wig to the wig library at the Cancer Council instead. Do you mind if I put a link to your post in it? It is so moving. xx

What a great idea and what a wonderful organisation. Thanks for telling us about them again. I had a stack of hair cut off last week but unfortunately there were some blonde foils through it. :( Would've loved to help x

Does the Great Shave community know about hair donations too? Sounds like a perfect partnership for Beautiful Lengths.

What a great charity. I think that unfortunately I was given a permanent earlier in the year, but maybe in a couple of years - although there will probably be too much grey by then!
