Win Sony Xperia Go {Giveaway}

Xperia Go is among the newly announced Xperia series mobile phones by Sony. Last week I was sent  a warm yellow Xperia Go , to review and an extra one to giveaway to one of my readers.
Valued at $379
It also comes in a very sleek and shiny black.

The new launched Sony Xperia Go, is a thin 3.5" / 9.8mm AndroidTM smartphone that is as stylish as it is durable. A scratch-resistant screen as well as water and dust resistant, means your stylish Sony Xperia Go is protected against almost anything life throws at it or your kids...

I don't own an apple phone or 'galaxy' phone - though I've seen them and used them. I currently own another smartphone that was given to me. To be honest I've never purchased a smartphone. How Xperia go compares I can't honesty say but for me it had all the bells and whistles I need and at a very wallet friendly price (well if had to buy it and I probably would).

'Apparently', Xperia is perfect for the 'active' accident prone kids of beleaguered parents who can't keep them away from their phone or gadgets. My i touch screen was shattered by them last year , I did not find out which one did it but it was discovered stashed under the bunk beds ...or dropped.

While it may be perfect for the accident prone – I did not allow my little drummers to try dropping it onto my cement or tiled floor. I'll take Sony's word for it.

Xperia go is also made to resist dust and water proof (specifically it can be submersed in water one metre deep for up to 30 minutes)...lucky I spared you the image of me blog reading or Facebooking in the bath. I have, in the past, put my i touch inside a ziplock bag to do this ...

Despite its durability it is very slim , sleek and stylish . It is so light - just perfect for putting in my pants pocket , when I was walking on the treadmill. A cute little guy - WalkMate (inbuilt pedometer app) - tracks my steps and daily counts for weekly goal.

I love the 5MP camera (with integrated LED flash and autofocus features) and I don't care it doesn't have a reversible or forward facing camera ... I don't like selfies. It does have unique fast access feature - one swipe to unlock and 'snap' - great when the kids are about to do something 'shareable' . While it comes so quick you can't always get a 'quality' focus - it is all about the capturing that never to be repeated unforgettable moment. The video was great quality too in my opinion ...as good as my Sony camera's video.

I normally can't get my other phone or i pad camera or any camera open quick enough. I'm impressed it even has 'zoom' and flash which I am going to love for instagraming.

A few other handy little features are the compass and torch (flashlight) plus it even has SOS.

I also liked that the messaging services on the Sony Xperia Go were easy to access and simple to use. A single tap of the landscape-image button, next to input screen enables you to instantly attach a photo or video to messages.

Xperia go has Google Maps and Navigation software pre-installed, making it a very handy device to have accompanying you when venturing out without knowing for certain your destination.

Xperia go has scratch resistant mineral glass and wet finger tracker (literally the ability to track the position of fingers in the touch screen in the presence of water) ...it didn't miss a swipe.

Sony says it has the highest industry level of dust and water resistance in a smartphone...remember the bath ...can be immersed in water up to one metre deep. Sadly , I am not near a beach but I bet it would be perfect at the beach (no worrying about the surf or sand) , near the spa or pool or for dancing in the rain all the places you wouldn't dream of using your other cameras.

Not to mention those unfortunates who keep their phones in their back pocket and dip them in the loo. I've had a few close calls myself ...eww. I've also had several friends wash their husbands phones too.

For those with other Sony products it has easy connectivity of its entertainment services with the HDTV, laptop and tablet.

It was very fast using my home wifi ...I admit I'm no 'techxpert' but they say it comes with a 1GHz processor for internet browsing , movies and downloads. (If I was an Optus customer I could access free movies...so I couldn't test these) I also didn't try it via 3G. It has very easy bookmarking feature too to store your favourited pages and space to download all your essential apps.

Even though there is no pinch to zoom - the on-screen - & + zoom controls to move in and out of content was pretty easy to use.

In summary Xperia Go is a durable and powerful Android smartphone that not only looks stylish, but provides a host of features for the average user . I think it is very wallet friendly considering the features. The bubblebath water resistance feature has hooked me...my books always get wet.

I need a phone that will handle my son's droolage and my daughters antics, even though I keep the phone well out of their way, there are times when I have found them sucking on my phone or throwing it around like a ball!
My recent post cakepops and icecream afternoon
that I can make the text larger cause I am too vain to wear glasses all the time. And a good camera so everyone can enjoy what I had for lunch along with me. x
Best feature I look out for is the quality of the camera. Oh, I long for a camera phone that can zoom without it going all fuzzy. Am I just wishful thinking ???

I only use my mobile for taking photos and an occasional SMS, so I look for a quality camera, and would LOVE to be able to get a 1TB storge capacity phone - I woud never run out of space!
Additional storage! I take a lot of photos on my iPhone and I'm always having to transfer them to my laptop to free up space. A device like a USB stick that plugs in and saves all of your pics and videos would be awesome.
Or a portable charger you can keep in your bag. I let the kids play games or look at videos when I need a distraction (doctors office, shopping trolley) and they always kill my battery!

I would like to see a water-proof phone in the future.
My clumsy husband has dropped three different phones in the toilet (don't ask!), and it has cost a lot to replace them. I'm sure many others would benefit from water-proof phones too!

The most essential feature is internet access, especially when I'm out with the kids! I need internet access to check the weather, search for public toilets, find online games for them to play, and also be able to vent my frustrations on facebook!
Well the Sony sounds like it has everything I need so I will just keep hoping that one day they will invent an invisible force-field that detects when kids are near and stops them seeing and wanting to play on the phone. Ahhh Dreams.
Sharing this on Facebook now :-) xox
My recent post Dear Elijah – You’re 4 Months Old Already…
I need a phone for my son for the future so he can be just like a typical teen! . It would need a complex voice recognition software that can be programmed for his specific communication issues without needing fine motor skills for access

I can only hope:) .

I'm not terribly techno savvy, so I need a phone that I can quickly grasp how to use it. It's embarrassing to have to ask my children.

I really need a phone to talk me through the steps of use when I first get it.

Product manuals may as well be in Russian for all the good they do me. Again - children who can read & comprehend essential here.

Wouldn't it be great if a phone was able to tell you if you were going over the speed limit in your car. I have a serious issue with drivers flying past my kids schools. It makes me so scared for all the kids safety. Maybe this feature would make some people wake up and smell the coffee and slow down.
I love it, I love it, I love it a lot;
It's stunningly super and stylish - it's HOT!
I want it, I want it, I want it a lot;
Coz then ALL my grandkids will want what I've got!

Fast capture and upload features are important; also dust and water restistancy; so I can take it with me when working in the garden or by the pool. I need a GPS because I am totally lost when I am more than 2km away from home :)
An unbreakable screen, one little drop & they crack, a great camera to capture all the fun times.
That it has inbuilt GPS or the ability to add it as an app, so I always know where my eldest is and if he's telling me porkies!!
The plan!!! I don't want to get stitched up with something I need to take a loan out to pay for each month!!!
I know it's not possible at the moment, but I'd love a radar gun style feature in my mobile. That I can point at cars & see how fast they are going. I love my gadgets and this would blow my mind.
Also, a built in breathalyzer. How handy would that be!!?? :)
Colour.
I love my iPhone so much, but I want one of these just cause it is shiny and yellow!
My recent post Essentially Jess
For me it is simple. I absolutely must have a replaceable battery. When I buy a phone I usually intend to use it for a long time and the battery is the first thing to die.
That it has a high quality digital camera to catch all the great moments in life
If it works after drenching in washers and loos;
If it keeps on performing, never blowing a fuse;
If it works after trauma then I'll be GO-ne on this phone;
As it has to be said that I’m accident prone!
I'd be happy with one that actually just works! But a decent camera is essential to catch all those moments that just seem to happen when out and about. I don't want to miss any opportunity to catch my beautiful girl's memories.

My toddler thought it extremely funny
To throw my mobile down the dunny.
So thanks to my darling daughter-
I need one that can withstand toilet-water!
I lost my phone to a massive amount of drool.
Now I'm a blogger but look like a fool.
I don't have a phone that can blog or tweet
It definitely makes it hard to find my feet!
