Handwritten ?

Everyone loves to receive personal mail ...except penalty notices bills

my dream letter box is actually a Cow shape - this is just a pretty picture!

Invitation, birthday card , holiday post card or a just a kind note from a friend or family .

What a feeling it is to pull an envelope out of the letter box with your handwritten name on it.

Claire says

Mail, actually written by you has a secret power that you never even realise. Only the receiver gets the magic. That extra smile you have when you get a surprise letter, the joy of hearing from someone real, of learning some news, of knowing someone far away was thinking about them.
I am joining in her challenge
Six letters to six people in six weeks.

When was the last time you received a handwritten letter via snail mail?

Who will you write to this week?

PS I noticed Lime Tree has some whimsical accessories to aid letter writing.

I adored receiving letters from my penpal.....she lived in America, and I just couldn't believe this letter had been posted from so far away...an email just doesn't make me feel the same. I really think "snail mail" is making a retro comeback!

Michelle, I had a Japanese penpal once too. Recently I went for a walk down memory lane in my filing cabinet - letters from friends on o/s trips and holidays - just so precious.
I hope it is.
what a great idea! miss getting handwritten mail.

such a simple thing that makes us smile yet something we don't see anymore ♥

I miss it too - you can start anytime Cathie.
I wish I had beautiful cursive handwriting - I don't - so I only print when handwriting (not that that could be classed as beautiful either). Growing up, I had a couple of pen pals from Finland,South Africa, Italy and Canada. It was always a thrill to receive their letters and photos (no Internet back then)! I still have them all filed away, even though I don't keep in contact with them anymore.

My handwriting is shocking too now Cathy.. I have letter filed away too , love reading them again.
I love writing and receiving letters, but, one problem is me getting to post them. I wished there was a way where we can somehow print a barcode that we've paid for and paste it onto the envelope instead of having to go into the post office to get some stamps. Usually there are postal boxes for me to put in to send off the letters/cards, but it's the chore of buying the stamps that put me off.

Buy a booklet of 10 and stash them somewhere or prepaid envelops !
Yes, this is what I do, just buy heaps from a newsagent when you next go in, even the milk bar often has them. The post office line is always too long.

Writing letters is a wonderful idea. I think I get around to it about four or five times each year. Its so true about the magic that comes with receiving snail mail.

Wow, you are better than me Amanda. I used to send letter pre internet - I have plan to send a letter or at very least birthday card to all my dear friends xo. It is magic to get a cute personal note.
This is such a wonderful idea! I LOVE stationary but don't have much use for it! I can't remember the last time I wrote a "real" letter!

Give it a try, not even a whole letter, just a thank you note and drop it in someones letter box. They will love it, and you!

I write to my Grandma, my Grandma-in-Law and my elderly Aunty. They don't understand email or anything about computers, so "snail mail" is normal for them ..... but I love receiving their return letters. There really is something special about knowing that someone spent the time to write a letter just for you.

That is so true Mum-me , I have some treasured notes from my own Grandma.
I had a few penpals growing up, and I would wait and wait to receive their letters, pouring over every word and taking the time to write back. I treasured those letters, and I still have every single one of them. Great challenge Trish! I might just have to play too.

Join In!! It really is fun and easy and you will be surprised at the things you think of to send to people. A book with a little handwritten note, a thank you, a hello...

I think I'll even keep it going. Pinterest has some great quotes to 'borrow' . I have treasured letters from friends who traveled.
Thanks for joining in Trish, I hope you enjoy taking part and making magic, I am sure the people who get your letters will be glad you are making the effort to say hello.

I think so too. Going to encourage my boys do it too with their little friends left behind in Sydney. A stamp costs so little for the special smile it can bring.
I love this idea.. it's been years since I wrote a letter to a friend just to say hello. Nowdays it seems to only handwritten notes I get to write are to the kids teachers to excuse them from sport.__I think I might just join this little challenge, what a lovely notion xx
My 4 yo daughter decided she missed her best friend from 3 yo kinder so much that she made a special Easter book for her and we sent it to her. Two weeks later her friend sent her a beautiful picture of what she did on the holidays. Somewhat innocently, my daughter has discovered the joys of sending and receiving mail, written (drawn) from the heart. It's a habit I intend to nurture.

Great challenge idea. Can't wait to hear how you go!
