Wordless Wednesday : Naidoc ~ We all Stand on Sacred Ground: Learn, Respect and Celebrate

decorate     v     paint     yibirmanha

This is an artwork we bought at our School Trivia night auction. Paintings tell the story of the Artist's connection to their country. I need to find our story. I'm very interested. I love the texture, colour and detail -which unfortunately I can't capture well enough with bad light in our lounge room and my phone.

I am reminded this week as the tradional owners of our great land celebrate Naidoc week.
We will have a young Aboriginal friend of the boys' here for 2 days , his mother and grandparents are Aboriginal - Wiradjuri. I think the artist is too.

The local Barkindji people have just won a very large native title claim here after a very long wait! I think there will be much celebrating this week especially. I wonder what my story would look like depicted like that?

It's only fair they return some land to the orignal inhabitants.

Love that artwork. Great words in your title too "Naidoc ~ We all Stand on Sacred Ground: Learn, Respect and Celebrate".

Thanks for joining in Steph. They speak more than a 1000 words.
I love traditional indigenous art works and this is gorgeous. My dad has a few pieces he's bought over the years and they are some of my favourites at home. Happy NAIDOC week!

Thanks for joining in Zita - my Aboriginal friend gave me a lucky story painted this week and I love it.
We celebrated by attending a family fun day where there was dance and craft, food, cook off and lots of fun things for the kids to do.

Greetings from Quandamooka country! I love the dotty style of Aboriginal paintings - I think it's called pointillia?

Is it very different to Maori and islander art ?
Thanks for joining in Em.
Love this painting! At first I thought it was a floor rug because of the effect the large dots make.
