Wordless Wednesday ~ Possum Magic

The 'Man' view out the window above the toilet ...
 What the ?

Until Sunday we had never seen a possum here - you can't see the cat in these photo ! It caused quite a commotion ; Possum being chased by Mia, Mia (cat) being chased by us and the boy who caught her.

Poss got away but couldn't get a grip on the gum trees. We relocated Poss to trees out the back , nearby where we first found Poss (on the outside of the bedroom sliding door). Then he bit Hubby.

Our friends visiting from Blue Mountains had told us a few Possum tales on Saturday night, they back onto bushland. We wonder if it stowed away over the mountains with them.

We don't have them here either. Was quite novel to see them when we visited down south. I envisage that little guy might be quite scared of a cat.

Gosh they are very different from our ones in NZ, that are a pest because are an introduced species! In NZ there is a thriving possom fur industry. Cute little guy this one though x

Such a pretty little fella! I saw one at the beach not long ago when walking the dogs, and they didn't even bother with it. x

So cute but such a nuisance when they get in your roof! Hope hubby is okay after being bitten? Tetanus shot?

That possum is actually very cute even though that word is a sweat word at our house. We jut chopped down 5 trees in our suburban backyard due to our "possum" problem. Our little Chihuahua, who is also called Mia, had a $1500 knee reconstruction last year as a result of chasing possums around our backyard.

Not very nice of him to bite after he was saved though!

Someone else mentioned my thougtht about the tetanus shot. Don't think they carry rabies tho!
Lots of the 'little darlings' round where I live - did you know they are a protected species? Can't be hunted and seemingly they are territorial so relocation is out of the question now. (The 'locals' where they are taken to tend to attack them) if you have a Peter the Possum Man nearby he'll come and remove one from your roof space and fill in the holes (for a price)
Oh there are loads of fruits and flowers they love to eat as well lol
Take care

Oh how adorable!! I think Poss is my favourite of all the Aussie creatures that appear in the back yard. Although I had no idea what it was the first time I saw one, hahah xx

Aw...so cute! I can totally imagine the cat going mental though --- mine chase a fly around the house! They'd wreak havoc if there was a possum!!!

He's a tiny one! WE used to have them in the roof growing up, but haven't seen one for a long time. My sister has them around her house in the trees, so I was surprised we haven't had any at our place :)

What a cute little critter! In our old house we had a possum that used to come down the chimney and torment the dog, he was very cute. We also had a bush tailed possum that used to eat fruit from the fruit bowl, he was not at all cute!
xx

I've never held a possum before. He looks so tiny and terrified. I hope he found his way home, the poor little thing.
