Adventures in Zambezia - {Giveaway}

Now we are coming thankfully to the end  of term 3 - I can hardly believe it  - my babies are already talking excitedly how they will soon be in Year 2 and turning eight (seriously it is n 91/2 months , they can't wait).

Keeping children amused through the school holidays can be challenging. When traveling I like to download colouring-in sheets and activities for the trip.

I have free

Adventures in Zambezia Activity Packs‏ for you to download and 3 DVD's to give away !
Released on DVD & Blu Ray just in time for the school holidays September 19th - is the animated Adventures in Zambezia.

.

Adventures of Zambezia is set in the beautiful backdrop of South Africa and follows a young and spirited falcon named Kai as he adventures beyond the nest and into Zambezia, a fabulous bird metropolis. With spectacular animation and a dynamic group of characters voiced by an all-star cast, it is a charming story of growth, adventure and acceptance.

Music is a great way. If you get out your favourites from when you were young and share them with your kids they will react in a few ways - 1) Shock that you liked such odd music. 2) Laughter as they see you dance to your old disco hits and most of all the time will pass quickly and happily.

Extra chores are the way to go. No? No longer bored & having nothing to do? Alright then. Off you go.
The best way to keep them amused Trish is to send them to Grandma's if that isn't possible then I schedule one great thing a day - could be craft, friends or an outing so they have something to look forward to.

PS My boy is hoping year 1 hurries up and get here - what is the rush with these boys?

looks like an awesome movie Trish, will be a good activity for the school holidays!
Oh so that is the movie my husband was talking about!! I can't wait til school holidays, just three more sleeps! And to think my baby will be a Year 1 :(
For keeping my kids amused, I send them outside, with a treasure/find me map! Also we have theme parks nearby so we are lucky :) xx

We make it our mission to visit local parks and playgrounds
A different one each day, makes the school holidays full of fun play!
We are only at the preschool stage 5 day fortnights but I still notice when Em is home those extra days I'm being completely crazy these holidays and taking my three kids to visit my parents. The crazy part is the 12 hour drive I will be doing ...alone. I will need these activities and more to keep them entertained. Wish me luck.
The kids love having a cooking day, we all get together and make muffins and biscuits to fill the freezer for school lunches for the coming term, the kids love icing things best!!!
Arts, craft and cubby houses are what school holiday fun is made up of!

Miss Seven is pretty good at keeping herself amused during the school holidays - she is very inventive and in to producing her own story books with writing and pictures. I love to take a little time off work when she's on holidays - even though hubby is a stay at home parent - it's so cool just to hang out together. Last school holidays one of the best things was seeing her participate in a fairytale cookbook session at the local performing arts centre. The kids had to pick the characters (the ingredients) and describe them for the actors as well as determining who did what when and where. My daughter loved being able to say that every fairytale starts with 'Once upon a time ... ' and naming the undersea monster as 'Eyeball'. I think she would have willingly jumped up to become part of the action had the actors invited her!

Making cakes, cheap and cheerful, something to nibble on for 30 minutes flat! lol!
Relaxing on a white sandy beach, picnic hamper (with some chocolate in reach!). Family around, kids happy at play. The beach + great weather= an awesome day!
Put a great movie on that brings the whole family together but also keeps them entertained for hours, even after the movie's finished! Imagination is the worst enemy to boredom ;)

A lot of arts & craft activities my girls love it, throw in a trip to the park, the beach and the movies and their happy
We pitch a tent in the Family Room and camp out. There are so many things that can lead on from this ie what you need for camping, camp cookery, board games and even if you haven't gone out the front door, it feels like a holiday!
We have adventure days when they have fun (hopefully) learning about gardening, fishing, camping, painting etc. Makes for many a fun and sometimes chaotic moment
We mind our grand-daughter during holidays and do our best to keep her occupied.
That could be a trip to the movies, the park, shopping centre or even Sydney.
At home she loves us playing a bit of basketball, drawing all over the driveway with chalk, playing with the dogs or even a spot of gardening.
But the wet days? OMG! That's when I, her "Poppy" get to play schools (she's always the teacher!), Mums and Dads or worst of all "Fairies". Yep, I, a sixty-ish Aussie male get to be the Purple Fairy - complete with wand and magic (my girl has to be the Pink Fairy).
Then there are the gymnastics: "Can you do this Poppy? "
Surprising but no, I cannot do the splits, touch my elbow with my toes, or but my leg above my head like her.
But that's all fine. Every chance to be with her is something to be treasured.
Give the kids a bucket of water and some paint brushes, and let them "paint" the outside of the house and the fences!
Competitions!! I make mundane chores fun, for example we have a weeding competition to see who can fill their bucket full of weeds first!! Not only are they the winner, but so am I and so is the garden lol. We play a lot of these mini games and then the overall winner gets to choose a fun outing for all of us to enjoy. It gets things done, and they don't realise what I'm doing to them so it's win win :D :D :D
