DIY - bringing new life to your home + {giveaway}

I confess , I am totally a  novice when it comes to sewing. I love browsing home furnishing stores and textiles for inspiration to bring new life to my living spaces.

Recently I was invited to attend The IKEA 2013 Catalogue and Living with Textiles launch. It showcased an inspiring introduction into the creative and limitless world of Textiles. A highly covetable , collection of stylish home furnishings and textiles at very affordable prices.

Plus a host of neat ideas for even the least crafty among us ...like me ! (and I was pleased you can do many without a sewing machine* ) I was amazed how 'seamlessly' IKEA has transformed simple Textiles into unique, personalised and statement pieces.

I especially loved the Children's extraordinary havens of play ...when they are not supposed to be sleeping ! The Children's range of textiles is awesome.

Ceiling canopy

Do you think this will encourage you and spark your child’s creativity ?
Would you let them join you with textas,
I love the TIDNY Colour in fabric ! We have a bolt of it ready to colour once I get new textas.

paint, scissors, glue and an open mind to transform their spaces into extraordinary havens of play!
Or then again  DIY - all by yourself.

Fancy a Teepee par'tee or picnic ?

We have these little $5 stools, I bought a while back - now I can't wait to play textiles with them.

I loved the Polka dots.

The new exciting IKEA interactive app has lots of ideas too.Hold your Smart phone or tablet over the phone to unlock an interactive world that leaves no cushion unturned.

I have the opportunity to share the exciting world of IKEA textiles with you - with two gorgeous copies of the SY – Love For Textiles coffee table book as a giveaway for two of my lucky readers.
WIN THIS !

This beautiful book will make anyone a DIY pro, and expand the creative horizons of even the most crafty designers.

I'm excited about using the ideas in the book to bring fresh ideas into my about to be renovated temporary home. Easy ideas like refreshing a sofa with new cushions or throws, tranquil tricks with quick bed - headboards and maybe a canopy and new curtains.

My style is simple and snuggly - I like comfortable pieces and with two lively boys I have to be creative , so the less expensive fragile items the better. I also like to be bold and a little adventurous ...in the bedrooms.

Looks like you had a great time Trish.

My style is a little embarassing. I am a little obsessed with colours and how they match. For example, when my daughter was smaller only pastel colours made it into her bedroom and primary colours in the family room where her toys were. I don't match pegs to my clothes when hanging them on the line but my family and friends joke about 'my style' all the time. Not sure what it is, I loved colouring in as a child, became a makeup artist so there is a part of me that is colour conscious I guess. It makes it very hard to decorate a home though given my affliction, lol.

PS I have a giveaway of Beauty Products worth $155 plus NESCAFE Limited Edition coffee if you are interested.

Wow! I am excited by the colour-in-fabric - that is cool! We also have one of those stools - it is our outside snack table. Can't go wrong for the price!

I just love the teepee. I want to get one for my kiddies and i think they can bring so much to the world of imagination. I think my whole house needs inspiration. Too cluttered. But I would love the kids rooms to be a little more creative and inspiring xx

I'm not one for sewing either despite studying it at school. My nan was a champion embroiderer, and my mum sewed all my clothes ... However those havens of play are pretty impressive. I love the colouring in walls, well my daughter would love them.

I'm now renting and now daughters rom needs a little makeover. Where once she looked onto agar den, now it's a telephone pole ... It's not that bad though, we are a minute to a delightful sea pool ... And so I draw on the sea, and nature, and colours of the dawn for our inspiration in style, that accompanied by a little art decor which is reminiscent of my former years ... The combination isnshaabynchic, although often, when were rushing about for school and work, it's just shabby :-)

How awesome is that colour in fabric!!!
Its hard for us to have a sense of style at the moment, all we really have is our bedroom - im not complaining, but i will say that i am SO excited for the coming year to buy our house and get stuck into it again x

Love the different ideas - I always want to use more textiles at home but never quite get around to it.

Of course, the biggest makeovers need to happen in our two bomb sites - my study and my storage area downstairs. I've mastered the dump and run, now I need to master the 'organise and look pretty' before my son gets old enough to know his mother is a slob!

That texta-colour-in fabric freaks out the OCD in me.
I'd love to redo my entire house. It's time I start surrounding myself and my family with beautiful things. I want our home to be a reflection of all of us, not just a home with has children in it.

I love the Ikea Textiles range! My favourite fabrics are vintage ones. I have grand plans of making my own patch work curtains using vintage fabrics... but it's sitting about half way down my sewing to do list thanks to all the crafty goodness to be found via pinterest! lol

Mine would have to be my bedroom. It's so bland and boring. Would love to add my little feminine touches to it.

The bathroom. It has a shower, a sink and a toilet. Style-less and boring.
I love ikea! I love fabric so much too! My style would be upcycling/retro/vintage kind of smashed together!
My whole house could do with some serious styling! I would love to revamp my bedroom as even though I don't get to spend much time in there ( quite a bit of bed sharing with the kids) I can hope for a full nights sleep one day soon!

That colour in fabric is the very reason why I LOVE Ikea!
We need to refurbish our lounge room with new couches. I like warm deep colours and like a bit of the rustic style. Hopefully we're going to find something from Ikea that suits our style.

Oh I love the colouring in ideas! One of my girls would love that so much, because she loves to draw. It always makes me sad there is no IKEA in Darwin. :( Hopefully one day....

Our bedroom is very clinical (bit like a hosptial) it needs some colour and character to make us want to spend more time in there ;-) no more clinical bedroom hopefully :) but a joyous fun space to share ;-)

I want to create a WOW!! dining area for the upcoming party season. For example: splashes of colour on the walls & the cloths draped over tables. I want people to be excited by what they see when they walk in. Me too!!
For someone who has never been to ikea, slightly jealous! I've only marvelled at the catalogue book and listened to the great stories about it. Oh and I also helped my sister put some of it together. I would love to pretty up my girls bedrooms, they are so not co-ordinated or glamourously girly at all.

THe room I would love to do something the most is my ensuite. It is tiny, poorly designed and lacks any personality! I just shut the door and walk away.

I love the colour in fabric! Our whole house could do with a serious make over. I'm still defining my style, but I's say it's flawed, yet cute & colourful, with lots of handmade touches. I've started in our "toy room" by making a baby mobile for above the change table. They say from little things, big things grow....

Master five's room is dark and bland and not the fun, creative place it should be. It needs more than a little inspiration...it needs it's own design team and budget.

I need serious inspiration for my (master) bedroom curtains... We still have my daughter's nursery ones up. They work, but she's 24 now...
