I'm old enough to this, too! I remember that my father had one in his office, it was really beautiful!

I'm old enough too ! I remember typing out my very first job application on one of these. I would've been around 13 and made so many mistakes ! I'm old enough to use white out too ! :)

My Nana used to let us use her old typewriter when I was a child. I remember her teaching us to make a row of birds on a fence (can't remember what letters we used to do that though!).

Great photos! What a gorgeous old typewriter. I was just thinking about them the other day, and how much I used to love Typing lessons at high school. The teacher would play music (on the tape recorder!) and we would all type along in time. Loved it!
I havent used one but I have seen them. Amazing how far we have come since the basic typewriters! I still have no idea how to use my new phone (got it yesterday!) nor how to use an ipad :) Yet my kids are up to date with the latest computers etc.
Bring back the days when life was that simple!
Cheers
Lisa

Oh, Trish, it's gorgeous! I've used newer type writers and at Christmas got my first vintage as I plan on collecting them.

I remember using one of those to type out stories as a kid. Loved it!

i love these old type writers. They have so much character and so much life! a keeper!

me too. I remember buying a type writer from cash converters for my tafe course after high school. Am I really that old?
My father has one just like this! He took it into Hannah's class last year when they were looking at "then and now". Most of the kids had no idea what it was. Don't things change quickly!

Hi trish, technology moves so fast these days doesn't it?
Thanks for hosting WW. I haven't had time to blog for so long. I still don't really have time, but I feel a bit disjointed at the moment, and joining in with WW is nice and comforting. Thank you. S. xx

I learned to type old school style when I was 13. I don't think the typewriters were quite as old and beautiful as this one, but a far cry from the iPad I'm typing on now!

My Grandpa had one of these I can remember playing on as a kid, before they got the electric typewriter!
Thanks for the walk down memory lane Trish.
I love old typewriters... trying to find my mum's old one. I love the sound it makes :)

Oh me too - I got one for my 7th birthday - loved it!
Love! I'm a vintage objectophile from way back. Anything like this, especially to do with signs, printing or communications, I love. I've got myself a nice heavy bakelite, shiny black rotary-dial telephone. One day- one day I'll get myself one of these too.
Love it! Me too. I had typing lessons in high school and had to submit uni work typed. I did a school tour yesterday for my 4 year old to attend and seeing the pcs in the prep class rooms brought home the changes!

My Mum was a secretary once upon a time, so we had a few of these round the house growing up... I remember asking her to use her ninja-fast typing skills to type my essays and having to initially instruct her how to use the enter and delete buttons! How things change...

Yes, we had one of those! It's great, Trish. Love the pics. Nice juxtaposition of the old and the new.

Last typewriter I used was made in 1989 and I bought it just after I finished uni. It was a Brother and it was LOUD. That is also a standout memory of learning to type at school ... the din in the typing room, especially when it was time to carriage return.

When I took a secretarial course in 1991, we were still learning on typewriters although electronic by that time. Hard to believe now.
oh wow, me too! I learned to touch type on an old typewriter, not quite THAT old a one but still pretty ancient by laptop standards!!
LOVE THIS!!!

Thanks for hosting WW again. Mine's not a pic post this week, so no linky from me, but I still love visiting everyone else's posts.

Ha! We must be the same age Trish because I remember using one of these too.....

Wow, how times change! I used to use my grandmother's typewriter, but it was a modern version - not like this gorgeous piece.
I think we're about the same age but I only remember using an old electric typewriter. I'm old enough to use the old MS DOS pre-GUI interface. I'm not sure I'd remember how anymore though.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending how you look at it), I am also old enough to have used a typewriter. What a great memory :)
