Giveaway : Handy Manny Motorcycle adventure DVD

We often travel long distances with the boys, travelling 300 + kms in a stretch, with just wee stops or a quick food stop. Especially to Dubbo and back home again.

A few years ago we purchased a car DVD player to save our sanity. It also proved to be the only time the boys sat still long enough to view a full movie. Though now they are almost 5 , they love chilling out , watching DVD's any time of the day (if I let them).

Thursday we received Handy Manny: Motorcycle Adventure DVD , due for release April 6. It was perfect timing – for them to watch it on the way to the farm and me to review over the weekend with them.

Handy Manny is a Hispanic man, with a colourful family of talking tools. To be honest the boys knew who he was and have watched him but I have never watched him on TV. This is Handy Manny’s first full-length adventure in two parts.

The adventure follows Manny and his talking tools buddies as they gear up for a motorcycle road trip to Manny’s family reunion.

By Saturday afternoon the boys had watched it maybe a dozen times. A few times because when we switch the motor off the DVD restarts. It is huge hit .They love everything about the DVD and role played with the cars, bikes on the car mat, their own adventure. Sam loves putting the pencil behind his ear too just like Manny.

Saturday, armed with home air popped popcorn I sat down to watch it too.

Manny and his talking tools, encounter obstacles along the way to the reunion – first having to fix the motorbike- running out of 'fuel', a flat tyre, stray cows blocking the road and broken bridges.

The Uh ..oh event is when Pat, the hammer, goes off looking for his family inside a truck. Manny and the other tools detour to find Pat, Squeeze (pliers) and Flicker (torch).

*I didn’t mind the sound track either ... it’s quite a catchy toe taping melody with fun songs. “Rolling , rolling,  rolling down the highway ...”

*Handy Manny gives children a subtle message about the importance of family and how a ‘family’ can include others (like pets). I liked it mostly for fun entertainment value and the bonus of learning a few Spanish words “Fiesta”.

*The teamwork theme and getting things done together is nifty too, the screwdrivers arguing who is better but then working together.

*As a bonus feature, is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Goofy’s Magical Mix-up.

It’s a great addition to the family Disney DVD vault.

in my house Handy Manny is a favourite. My disabled son love him and now knows all the tools names. We have many favourite disney movies. I amnot sure what my children would say but I think that Beauty and the Beast has been a long time fav.

Our favourite Disney movie is Cars, by a long shot :) We are Handy Manny fans though, but my 2yo is confused that the eps we have digitally recorded have ads - he thinks the show has finished! lol

Stella and Amy will happily watch Handy Manny together, its one of the only shows they do both enjoy! My favourite Disney is actually one of the most recent ones, The Princess and the Frog! I love it!

I love the photo of your boys watching the movie!

My favourite Disney movie is The Lion King. I loved it when it came out, went to Melbourne to see the Musical and made sure I bought it for my son (he likes it, but doesn't love it like I do). I love the music in it too.
