The Power of One. The movie was never going to be as good as the book, but I loved it anyway.

Now where is my old copy of that.
My recent post May 16: The best smell in the world is…
I saw the film version of Zuzack's masterpiece at the cinema and was pleased to find it captured the book's atmosphere and poignancy.

Favourite book as film...? It's a big call. I love Roald Dahl's classic kids' story 'The Witches' which I teach in a film study for Year 7. Even the coolest and bravest students gasp and tremble when Angelica Huston as the Grand High Witch, removes her mask! And Jane Austen's 'Emma' starring Kate Beckinsale as Emma Woodhouse is my fav version of this classic text. But I must admit Renee Zellwegger as Bridget Jones is hard to beat as the lovable ditz... Basically, she is Bridget and of course, Colin Firth as Mark Darcy is too irresistible for words. :)
My recent post SERIOUS and other important trivia…
As we plough through the first 11 books of The Ranger's Apprentice and then mourned the final page of the 12th book, we are relieved to be continuing with The Brotherband series. We've been following these John Flanagan books with awe. I've been reading two chapters out aloud each night for the whole family to enjoy. With children ranging from 3 to 10 years, plus two adults, it has had us all spellbound. With it's sword and bow and arrow fighting scenes, good triumphing over evil theme and jampacked 'edge of your seat' intrigue, this would be the best movie series. Appealing to young and old, a story depicting life similar to the knights of the past, it would be action packed drama and adventure that everyone could absorb. My only question is 'when' will it air.
I've just read the third Bridget Jones book - I read the entrie thing with a British accent!! Can't wait for it to become a movie!

Fight Club. And, it's the only movie I prefer over the book, SO much better!
Not my best ever movie - but the fact that "Where the Wild Things Are" could be turned into a feature film astounds me. From a beloved children's book consisting of few sentences, the movie stays true to themes of anger, rebellion, fear and courage. Plus there's cool monsters :)
My recent post The Animal Criminal
Hmmm, so difficult. I loved the Book Thief - strangely enough, my counsellor recommended I read the book while I was having my cancer treatment. I finally saw the movie last weekend and loved it. It was so beautifully done. Keeping with the World War Two theme, I really loved the Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. I watched the film first, quite by accident, and was so moved by it, I had to read the book. I would never have guessed I would find it in the children's section of the library! The book was as good as the film only better, but I loved that I could picture everything that more clearly, having seen the movie. I do love to put a face to a name!

I am actually really really waiting to see The Book Thief movie. I had some money to spend about six months ago and picked up the book because it looked cool and bought it, I'd never heard of it before. I have always read tonnes of boooks and it isn't often that I get to read something that is so different to anything else I've ever read. This book is AWESOME! Love love love it!!!!!!

Horton Hears a Who!
Dr. Seuss for me and you.
Love the movie and the book,
Both deserve a second look.

The movie was a visual feast,
Filled with every kind of beast,
Jim Carrey was the perfect Horton,
A voice to have us all a chortlin’.

So do yourself a great big favour,
And get the family all together,
Sit and watch and have a laugh,
And see if you can spot the giraffe!!

I'd love to see The Adventures Of The Wishing Chair, followed by its sequel, The Wishing Chair Again!
Enid Blyton's tales are magical and marvellous and I would happily watch them with my children. I think her stories still hold great appeal to both young and old.
The Brother Athelston mysteries...I think he would give David Jacobi a run for his money....

My Favourite Book released as a Movie is Tim Wintons The Turning! So many amazing yet baffling stories with an authentic Australian cast. I'm still trying to wrap my head around this film and the book, but it will remain as my favourite for quite some time!
The Diary of Anne Frank held true to the book and certainly gave my emotions a run for their money
The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons. It's my favourite book and I would love to see the film adaptation. I believe they are only at the screenplay stage at this point but I really hope it gets produced eventually.
Gone With The Wind....all the drama and every emotion from the book to the screen,
And theres no excuse not to use curtains when 'there's nothing in my wardobe to wear!'
Stephen Kings Mysery...the book was fantastic and so was the movie

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott as its very special to me being the first book that I remember reading and then seeing the movie. Two movies in fact 1949 and 1994 but I preferred the 1994 being a big Winona Ryder fan at the time. I'm waiting patiently for the Gone Girl movie to come out later in the year, it was one of my favourite books ever!
