Lego Legends of Chima { Giveaway } ~ The real reason we buy Lego

It's been a while hasn't it.

Christmas and New Year had me playing with my boys instead of online...well some of the time.Being a feasting sloth also featured highly.

We built Lego City Cargo Terminal, Rescue Helicopter and then racing the Legends of Chima. Lego building is a lovely way - for me - to bond and connect. (no pun intended with them and their interests)

My boys like to fight over play Lego their own way. Yes - the only wrong way to play with LEGO is the way that leaves pieces out for me to step on when barefoot or make me frantically move the vacuum cleaner in the opposite direction to miss Lego.

I suggested to my boys we re-build all our Lego City collection and they cried no - because they have build their own vehicles,

Joel's Base

' BASES ' , buildings and display their mini figures collections- (Superman and Darth Varder are now friends too)

So this Christmas - It went like this -

Step 1: Buy Santa brings LEGO

Step 2: Rip Open all the boxes and carefully tip the numbered packets into separate containers.
(this was after Christmas but illustrates the point)

Step 3: Toss aside Carefully place the instruction manuals in right order.

Step 4: Retreat to your corner  - commence build !

Christmas Day.

Step 5: Knock Lego on the Floor; under the table, under the lounge ; LEGO, start looking for the missing pieces ...find pieces from last week.

Step 6: Document the Completion. Play !

Joel made the Helicopter completely with no assistance. Only Superman can save the day ...he is from another set . The boys also independently made the H helicopter landing pad.

Step 7: Children make modifications ...while I step on stray Lego and commence - hopping and cursing (at children).

Step 8: 2hrs later ... I accidentally vacuum up a stray LEGO piece.

Step 9: Encourage husband to dig through the vacuum cleaner bag searching for that piece (and others) while watching over his shoulder and holding a tissue to my nose , to make he doesn't miss a tiny piece .

Step 10 : Suggest listing Lego on eBay...we'll make a fortune.

Okay,  I'm kidding - my boys and I enjoy hours of play with Lego and they play it together - everyday !

Their recent favourite collection has been

LEGO Legends of Chima is a tale of animal warrior tribes, who live in the magical land of Chima. Build your minifigure using LEGO bricks, Race against the other animal tribes and battle it out to WIN the powerful CHI with the LEGO Legends of Chima Speedorz.

They knew all the tribes and powers ! I just like to see them race.

The boys were so excited when these arrived to review.

The standout features are it's animal-centric ; and there are various accessories and their own unique Speedorz , which gives more scoop for imaginative play (with collectable playing cards) and physical play.

'Speedorz' - come come with a ripcord (launcher) which is used to rev them up and get them racing and leaping across toes the room .

Speedorz move pretty fast once they get going and it was so hard to capture the action on video. A flat surface (floor not carpet) works best (of course they disappear under the couch and sometimes 'crumple' but it was a lot of fun).

To help my family bond through creativity and enjoyment - they get to be creative and enjoy watching me pick up the Lego and pack it away.
The real reason I buy Lego is because it's fun.
Most toys are divided into 2 simple categories, boys or girls. Yet with Lego, it seems to be something that belongs to neither, falling in the rare ‘Everybody’ category. Although today they are trying to make sets more tailored for girls, I have always viewed Lego as a neutral toy. It’s something you can get out and children of all ages and gender almost automatically know and want to play with it, and can easily entertain all for hours.

it's meant to be for my grandchildren to play with when they visit, but I think I play with it more than they do - it's fun!

To get five minutes peace and quiet where I can pour a steaming hot coffee down my neck quickly before a fight breaks out. The joys.

Its great for keeping those fine motor skills in check and expanding imaginations and the biggest bonus of all keeps the children quiet and entertained.
The real reason I buy Lego is that between 7am and 9am every day, in between making breakfast for three kids and dressing everyone and making lunches and changing nappies and hanging out a load of washing and cleaning teeth and brushing hair and packing school bags and making beds, I really need an EXTRA challenge. Helping my 5 year old son find his essential missing Lego piece is the perfect extra task to add to my morning ritual. Lego helps keep me on my toes and makes sure I don't get too much time to myself. :)
The real reason I buy Lego is so I can play with it of course!

The real reason I buy Lego is... the fact that you never outgrow it - not really!!
see what the building blocks of tomorrow brings
The real reason I buy Lego is because it's the toy that gives endless fun; enhances imagination and quietly entertains for years and for generations.

I've loved Lego since I was young,
That hasn't changed now I'm a Mum,
My kids and Hubby love it too,
Building is so fun to do!

that I love to see my kids faces light up with excitement and happiness when they complete building their new LEGO item
to keep my kids out of my hair for a little while! And I don't feel bad about that!!
It keeps children entertained for hours on end, helps my kids to problem solve and develop technical skills without losing the larger picture of fair play and fun which is a big BONUS in itself. They're fun, and colourful and I can get caught up playing too.
the real reason i buy lego is because i loved it as a kids and still secretly enjoy building it and it makes my son happy :)
Because I secretly like playing with it myself.
When the bickering gets too much I know it's time to bring out the Lego. Separating the kids, literally into opposite corners, giving Mr 10 his container and Miss 6 hers. Peace reigns and within 5 minutes they have happily rejoined each other and resume their building - interacting and generally working well together. Until Miss 3 comes along, steals their Lego pieces and the arguments start all over again.

The real reason I buy lego is because I was an addict as a child and even though my son isn't the biggest fan, I hold on to hope that he'll catch on!
Because I'm a masochist. There can simply be no other reason I buy something which involves (a) endless stepping on sharp parts, (b) endless sorting through a thousand pieces to find the one critical piece needed, (c) endless tears when someone inevitably drops a newly-built piece, (d) endless sifting through the vacuuming because I always manage to suck something up, and (e) endless clearing away scattered pieces that the boys' 'mess' blinkers prevent them seeing. There's a fine line between pleasure and pain, and Lego masterfully walks that line...cos we keep buying it :)

The reason I buy lego is so that my six children can sit and play quietly and be very creative and challenge each other.
The reason I buy lego is because it reminds me of my childhood and it looks awesome!
