No more tears and Electrolux Turbo Pro stick mixer {Giveaway}

I am very excited to review the new ELECTROLUX TURBOPRO STICK MIXER and I have one to giveaway to a lucky reader. Just in time for cooking all your Christmas culinary delights.

This intuitive new stick mixer will take your home cuisine to the next level - just like a pro...and with less mess. I admit I'm one of the messiest chefs !

In minutes you can whisk an egg, grind-up a flavoursome curry paste or blend an icy cold mock cocktail or smoothie for one or two.

The easy on the eye vibrant watermelon red or liquorice colours go hand in hand with a comfortable grip. The extra long power cord is brilliant ...for extended reach. The fact I can chop onions without tears is amazing.

The TURBOPRO stick mixer with it's 700w motor , has variable speed controls to adjust the processing for different ingredients and a turbo function, for when a little extra power oomph is needed.

I was very impressed when the mini chopper easily processed my Linseed/Flaxseed into meal - my other stick mixer couldn't do this. I've been looking for a coffee/spice/seed grinder to do it but hesitant to pay $69 - $90 for a decent one for just this purpose.

Electrolus says it has 'Professional triple blades' - similar to blades used in professional kitchens, the triple blade on the TURBOPRO stick mixer eliminates lumps and creates a velvety texture when whipping up delicious spreads. The triple blade and bell shape help to create a vortex, sucking food into the knives for a smooth result in soups, sauces, smoothies and purees.

I noted the very strong vortex when I made my frozen blueberry and banana smoothie - power plus

Banana , handful Frozen Blueberries, 200gm yoghurt, 100m water - 60 sec on Turbo !

Another important feature for me was the extra long stainless steel mixing bar and open bell - designed to be used directly in pans and reach the bottom of large pots, the open shape of the stick mixer prevents food from being stuck under the blades.

I found it particularly good for smaller quantities, like making a cauliflower soup / puree or smoothie for 1 instead of arduously cleaning using my bigger food processor.

The fact that it has an anti-scratch and anti-splash design that takes care of my pots n pans while keeping my kitchen clean is another winner for me. It is a stylish , modern, one stop cooking device which will blend seamlessly into any kitchen. It comes complete with a 'swish' looking wall attachment so no hunting around in drawers or cupboards for bits and easy to access.

Smart attachments
The new TURBOPRO stick mixer is available with a number of useful attachments including
  • a large 1L mixing jug, double whisks to bring more air into the mixture and create lighter texture and
  • a 1L mini chopper perfect for crushing ice, chopping nuts, mixing purees, cutting onions, herbs and spices.
  • The cutter and beater attachments are ideal for the preparation of a variety of foods such as soups, creams, sauces, vegetable purees, pancakes, batter and mousses.
  • It can also be used as a whisk for whipping creams, beating egg whites or making mayonnaise.
It made a very smooth pancake batter and the kids loved using it.

I can't wait to try this recipe from Peter Gilmore -

Cauliflower cream with roasted sea scallops

Ingredients
Serves 4
12 sea scallops
50 mls melted butter
Sea salt
250 gms cauliflower florets cut into small pieces
1 clove garlic
1 stickof white celery
1 eschalot
100 gms unsalted butter
500 mls fresh chicken stock
150 mls fresh pure cream

Method
  1. Finely dice the garlic, white celery and eschalot and sweat in 100 gms of butter.
  2. Add the cauliflower florets and sweat for a further minute making sure the vegetable do not colour. Add the chicken stock and boil rapidly until virtually no liquid remains.
  3. Place the contents of the pot into a 1 litre steel or plastic beaker style container.Use the Electrolux TurboPro to blend on a medium speed then increase the speed to high and puree for 1 minute until you have achieved a very smooth puree.Season to taste with sea salt and place the puree into a clean saucepan.
  4. Use the whisk attachment on the TurboPro to whip the fresh cream to light peaks. Fold the whipped cream through the cauliflower puree and gently reheat in the saucepan.
  5. Heat a non stick frypan on high, brush the sea scallops with melted butter and season with sea scallops. Pan fry the sea scallops for 1 minute on each side then drain on absorbent paper.
  6. Remove the cauliflower cream from the heat and process the cream once more with the Electrolux TurboPro. This will aerate your cauliflower cream even further.
To Serve
Pour an equal amount of cauliflower cream in each serving bowl and top with 3 sea scallops. Serve immediately.

I think I'd try Chicken tenderloins or another white fish if scallops weren't available.

Well since everyone will have a story about not securing the lid on a blender and putting too much soup in....... I will tell you what I would whip up. I would make dips like cashew, basil, sundried tomato, chilli and parmesan!
My recent post My story of Anxiety
Not so much a culinary treat. But Sam only eats bananas. As in, it's the only fruit/veg he eats. At all. They tell me it's normal with Aspies. But he's 5 and it's stressing us out. His weakness though is for milkshakes. Smoothies. I think this is going to be my way to getting more veg and fruit into his diet. He can't handle any texture that isn't smooth, so I'm hoping something like this allows me to introduce some more foods without him even knowing about it.
My recent post 2013 - The Year I'll be Organised
Oh please oh please save me from these wannabe Turbo Pros! At least 3 have died horrible deaths in my kitchen, one going up in smoke, because they don't come close to the Electrolux quality! I'm not whizzing up anything fancy or gourmet, just smuggling veggies into bolognaise and mushing up teethies toddlers dinners!

My tale involves a flash coffee machine that a seal wasn't put in properly (hubby put it together) which meant coffee exploded - I had to clean the roof, the walls everything! Plus then it wouldn't work properly and the warranty didn't cover it because huuby hadn't followed the directions to put it together.

I promise not to let him near this if I win! With Summer coming up I'm looking forward to fruit smoothies!

I tried making my own mince a la Jamie Oliver. Using chopped up steak and my brand new wedding present blender I thought it would be amazing. Turned the blender on and a bad smell leaked from the blender. It was completely broken and I had no mince. Four years on I still have no idea what happened.
I dont cook with appliances very often... i still use a hand whisk and just my pots and pans. But my worst appliance disaster was my very first attempt at pumpkin soup. I thought I would make it for Anthony one night when we were still in the dating, lets impress each other stage. I was at his place. It was cold. It was late. He didnt have a stick blender so I poured my straight off the stove top batch of pumpkin soup into his barely used blender and began to blend. Wanting to make the most perfectly smooth pumpkin soup that we were ever to eat. However, hot soup in a cold glass jar just doesnt work! The whole thing exploded. Hot soup and glass all over the bench.

Whooooooops! I still havent replaced that blender, four years on.

My culinary dish is my Chocolate Mousse. I would so love to win this prize because it would mean I could use all the attachments to create it! This would also be the perfect appliance to make fruit and vegie purees as I am due with my second baby in February 2013!

Failing to put the lid on the blender, again and again and again...I'm dangerous - seriously. Giving me an awesome appliance with blades is a great idea - just sayin'!
My recent post Wordless Wednesday: Peanut Butter Cookies
Oh, I'm a shocker in the kitchen. I always rush things and never think through consequences. Just this week I thought I'd use the cake mixer thing to make frosting. Only the hard butter and cream cheese got stuck in the attachments and I had to go through and unclog it so I could go on. One day I'll be a Pinterest worthy cook!

Probably the time I was using a hand mixer and it blew up in my hand...well the power point did...it wasnt pretty and I was just lucky the safety switch did its job properly :-)
OMG, blending home grown tomato's & one wouldn't go down the chute properly, So instead of using the proper part to press it down, I used a wooden spoon because I already had it in my hand. Somehow I pushed to hard or slipped, to this day I don't know how it happened, but the wooden spoon went down, hit the blade, got pulled in & cracked the blender bowl in half, spraying pureed tomato ALL over the kitchen. And I mean all over everything, as far as the eye could see, and into places I couldn't even imagine it getting into. I spent all night cleaning it up, and now, years later I still find small traces of it here and there.

I was using a hand mixer, and getting so into what I was doing I pulled the cord out the wall... Instead of turning the mixer off, I had just plugged it back into the wall. However the mixer was no longer in the mixing bowl and it got caught in my hair, ripping the crap out of it and Somehow it got caught on my upper arm flab leaving me with massive bruises. Finally I pulled the cord back out the wall! I can quiet embaressingly say now I have a phobia of electric beaters!!!!

Making butterfly cakes with my daughter didnt turn out how it was suppose too!!! Using the elctric mixer to fine grind all the ingredients , i stupidly put my finger into taste. The blenders snapped at my fingers and in a matter of seconds the whole hand was stuck and with me screaming my daughter and I went into shock. I quickly pulled the plug, I had to prise my fingers loose, not a pretty look, a bit of blood, which we were joking after saying the blood could have been used for the strawberry jam in between the cakes :P
Crumpets got stuck in the toaster, and without thinking I grabbed a metal utensil, and jammed it in to pry the crumpets out. And ended up shorting out the electricity! Thank goodness what I grabbed had a plastic handle or else I'd have been toast!

One of the most dreaded chores is cleaning the oven.

I applied the bicarb & vinegar, shut the oven & went about my other chores. Sometime later Mister turns on the oven for lunch.

It did NOT smell good once the bicarb & vinegar got HOT. I thought for sure we would have to buy a new stove, but once the smoke & smell had cleared I was able to just clean it out.

Thank goodness it had NOT been toxic chemicals. I think we might have blown the house up.
I am my worst kitchen appliance disaster! I am shocking in the kitchen when it comes to successfully creating something without a massive mess. Even when I use no appliances at all it looks like I've taken the lid off a switched on blender!!!!!
A bullet blender is what I bought, to purée my son's first food. What a disaster that was! With much anticipation I placed the carrot and potato in the brand new blender and whizz...my son started screaming. He was frightened of the noise. I persisted though and continued, only to smell an electrical smell! I quickly decided the food was smooth enough and placed the spoon in my son's mouth. He sprayed it straight back at me- All that excitement for nothing!!
Hubby is the better cook in our family. Saying that there was one year where he made a "Steak and Kidney Pie" - from scratch.
With real big chunks of Steak/Kidney's in the pie. It was that chunky and that bad that no-one ate it for dinner that. Not even him.
Not even our dog that we had! we ended up with Toasted Sandwiches for dinner.
Normally he cooks the most amazing meals on our choofer.

My magic bullet (big w brand one though) cup exploded while blending up pumpkin soup, it was spectacular =/ the kids and hubby got a good laugh while poor me was covered in pumpkin and has the mess to clean.
I tried to cook popcorn for my daughter and I, it exploded all over the microwave and then when I tried to make it in the saucepan it burnt and I ruined the pans...:(
