'Tangled 'presented by Walt Disney - is a modern animated fairytale yet still traditional.

Most of us are familiar with the tale of Rapunzel, the beautiful girl with the long enchanted hair, trapped in a tower by an evil witch who pretends to be her mother.
I loved this movie. I saw it in the cinemas. My boys enjoyed the 'adventure' too even if it seems to be all about a Princess. It's not.
Disney takes it a little further with a snappy comic fairy tale twist still retaining much of the original story.
When Flynn Rider (voice of Zachary Levi) a handsome thief, decides to hideout in a tall, mysterious tower, he is taken hostage by the beautiful sassy Rapunzel (voice of Mandy Moore).
Rapunzel 18th birthday is approaching. For as long as she can remember, Rapunzel, has wanted to see the outside world , wondering why floating lights appear in the night sky once a year coinciding with her birthday.
Once again her wish is denied by Mother Gothel because "Mother knows best". Unbeknown to Rapunzel she was snatched from her crib as a baby by the duplicitous Mother Gothel (voice of Donna Murphy) because of the magical power of her hair. Rapunzel's 70ft golden mane is the source of youth for Mother Gothel. It also has magical healing properties.
Rapunzel longs to see the world beyond the tower and she hides Flynn's satchel from Flynn to coerce him into taking her to see the floating lights up close; while Mother Gothel is away.
The satchel contains a tiara he nicked from the very palace Rapunzel was stolen from.
What follows is a hilarious, action-packed escapade, with Maximus, a swashbuckling palace horse on the trail of Flynn , Rapunzel's Pascal (a pet Chameleon) and band of singing pub thugs, as we see Princess Rapunzel finally discover who she really is.
Some of the slap stick humour went right over the heads of the boys but it certainly keeps the adults gaff'awing. Alan Menken’s music and catchy songs 'I've Got a Dream' and 'I See the Light' complement the movie well.
This is one Disney family movie you will watch again and again.

My favourite fairy tale character?
Probably Cinderella! It's the classic rags to riches. It's about fighting back (subtley in Cindarella's case) when you are trodden on. And being able to say "How do you like THEM apples?" right before showing the world what a good person you are by taking good care of those who wouldn't take care of you.
Also, my bestie just told me yesterday that Tangled was waaaaaay better than The Little Mermaid which is my favourite Disney, and I will have to see it to believe it!
I love Alice in Wonderland
I also like you!!! ;)
Hi Trish well for me it has to be cinderella too, who doesn't love that rags to riches tale? :-) Can't resist the Tangled giveaways any longer, maybe I'll get lucky with yours!
In all truth, Rapunzel was always my fave - I have always wondered why it took Disney so long to make an animated version!
I have entered literally every single giveaway for Tangled in the hope of winning!
(And I have just liked your FB page too!)
xx
My favourite is the Pied Piper. Not sure why, but Rapunzel and Rumplestiltskin are close runner ups! I love modern retellings of the classics!
It has to be Ariel from the Little Mermaid. Why? Because she's a mermaid? Nope. Because she married a handsome prince? No, although that would have been nice. It was because redheads protagonists are far and few between......Okay, okay, it's because I'm a redhead too!
My favourite is definitely Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Her strength of character is amazing. She was willing to give up her freedom so that her aged father could be free and she looked past the ugliness of the beast to see that he was really a wonderful person on the inside. If only we could all be like that.
I always wanted to be Cinderella when I was little, my prince would sweep in and rescue me! Amy wants to be a princess when she grows up but isn't discerning about which one!
The Little Mermaid, I always ended up in tears reading her tale.
I love Alice and Ariel probably because they are quite alike both precocous and full of dreams albeit very different ones.
Ummmm Imma say Little Red Riding Hood cos she had a wicked cape ;p
PS I like you :D
Goldilocks - the worst uninvited houseguest ever. Stayed far too long, broke everything and then ran off into the woods. Belongs in the magistrate's court, that one.
But she was all about finding the middle way. Very Buddhist. =)
LOL Melbo ! I didn't think of that
I just read a version of Goldilocks and 3 bears tonight as a bedtime story.
Cinderella. It's all my 3 yr old harps on about and apparantly it's also all I harped on about around the same age. Like Mother, like daughter!
For some reason I love Hansel and Gretel! They beat the odds to get back to their father!
I also like you on FB.
Arial - The little mermaid :)
I already 'Liked' you

My fav character is Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She has brains, loyalty, compassion, determination and beauty. What more could you want?
